    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Not sure if anyone has seen a thread on the other forum but someone just posted pictures of a citrus pastel desert sitting on eggs and candled good. What makes this more interesting is that the citrus pastel desert in question came from Amir. Of course there are some saying that its not a desert and some saying its not a pastel.....there again Amir is new at this right:D

I think no matter what the outcome is, it will be a very interesting reading for the next two months! Of course it comes as I just sold the most amazing desert Mojave female CHEAP today:ack2:

For my two cents........I hope it pans out and is legit because even though the morph will never recover the loss, people will start making incredible combos with it. I still love how much they clean up the combos. Get back to the snake for its beauty over its profit making ability:thumbsup:

Now as for the situation with the calico pastel desert female. Amir has confirmed that she is in fact desert. However, this brings up a major concern in the industry I believe. It was not only a risky move on the breeders part, but a not so smart move to release the information just yet. There are far too many breeders out there that are just in this for the $$$. That will lead to a lot of risky breeding in the coming months. I love producing awesome animals just as much as the next person but not at the expense of my animals. In my opinion its just a tad bit irresponsible. Granted someone has to do it but don't go showing off like that. Yes, congrats to the guy for producing a good clutch. Not being a donnie downer here just stating an opinion. I would hate to see a bunch of people start pimping out their desert girls just because it's been done once.
 
Where I do agree with you Tonya, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. For one, the snakes that died.....we're they power fed and bred too early? One guy had bred a couple of them successfully in Florida. When he started to post he was met by everyone giving him crap so he quit trying. We must remember that the biggest chance these animals had of being proven as fertile burnt to the ground and they all died. I have heard theories from age, temps, outbreeding, to further generations being able to produce. There is one species that slug out every first clutch then lay viable clutches. Could the ones that died be because the breeders bred them at sub 1500 grams at less than two years old? Maybe they need to mature more or be 2000 grams plus? I do agree that no snakes should be harmed but some will have to try at some point. I do hope they wait until it is older and bigger as if I was going to try I would.
 
I must say again here, it's been shown multiple times that Desert's are NOT infertile. They never have been. The issue is in the twisted, corrupt oviducts.

Size shouldn't matter, number of genes definitely won't matter, (obviously, the female who just laid the eggs is technically just a 2 gene animal. "Pastel Desert". Citrus just throws the random whiteouts so I don't really consider it another gene)
Adding genes, putting on weight, doing a rain dance, etc. will NOT un-corrupt the oviducts.

So, my guess here, would be that this guy just found a lucky Desert girl. Does this mean there could be more out there? Of course, but the problem is going to lie within all the people who irresponsibly try to find those Desert girls.

The thread also says this girl was around 1600 grams when he paired her. 1600g surly isn't BIG enough to 'change' anything internally. MANY others have tried breeding's at or around 1600g. I've heard the idea of size making a difference a few times, I'm just not buying that being the case here considering this girls average size when she was bred.

Personally, I don't think anything will un-corrupt the oviducts of effected females.
I think people are bound to get lucky sooner or later.
I've also heard about the guy in FL. IF it is true, then that means there has been 3-5 clutches ever. Maybe. Which is better than 0, but still so far away from me thinking anyone has "figured" anything out.

Nothing special was done here. No heat changes, no size difference, no lengthy time for maturing, etc. As of now, all signs point to a guy getting lucky. Nothing more, nothing less.

We'll see how things unfold from here, I'm sure there are bound to be other twists somewhere down the line.

Just my $0.02.

I still say Damn!!! I wish Deserts were issue free. They are SMOKING hot by themselves and in every (?) combo I have ever seen.

Those people have been and will continue to breed desert females anyway, I personally know several who were doing so before this news. OTOH one viable clutch from one particular female is not enough for me, and I would suspect many others, to take on the risks associated with breeding a desert female.
 
I think out of this the best post is Amanda's. I am glad to see she has kept up with more of the talk about it. I quit reading because of everyone only caring about money over beautiful snakes. I had all of my deserts at the show yesterday because I don't have room for them and sold the females as pets only because they are infertile. Now today thanks to her I have a better explanation for people as to why they cannot breed. Where I will not be able to stop anyone from rolling the dice and trying, this gives me more of an explanation for people to just how serious it is for them to not try and breed them. I'm glad someone stayed with it. I think everyone should find that karma button for her to show some appreciation.
