    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Anyone thinking of purchasing anything from Kevin Best in Kentucky, beware. He posted for sale on other sites and when I contacted him about purchase, we agreed on the price and that I would pick up in Columbus at there June show. He kept emailing that week asking to be paypaled the money. I told him I would rather pay when picking up, but would put a deposit if he gave me the address to send to. I didn't receive a response back from him. That Saturday morning (the day of the show) I saw he emailed and said he would deliver them after 5pm when he got off work and gave his cell number to call him. So I hooked up the trailer and headed to the show, a 6-7 hour drive. I called his cell as soon as I was on the road and left a message telling him I was on the way. I called several times in route and once I got to the show. I received no call back. When the show ended I left a message that I would be hanging around after the show, just in case he wasn't able to have his cell phone at work and would return the message after. I continued to head around Columbus to get closer to the route home; calling along the way. At around 6pm I called and told him we were getting something to eat and that if he wasn't able to make it to let me know before it got too late, so I could head home. After eating I still heard nothing and headed back. Around 8pm and still 4+ hours from home, I decided it wasn't safe to continue to drive home as it was a long day and I was getting tired; I got a room at a nice motel along the way. I decided to call one more time to give him the change to meet up the next day; just in case something came up. I received no response at all. When I got home the following day, I emailed him asking what happened that he would even return the call and that it cost me over $250 in gas, tolls, and room. He never responded. A week later I emailed him from a different email address and "inquired" about the visions he had listed. I IMMEDIATELY received a reply that "indeed they were still available, as the previous deal feel through when the buyer backed out and if I paypaled him the money we could work out the delivery details. I replied asking how the last deal fell through and that he considered the buyer driving 6 hours and spending over $250 to meet and pick up is considered "backing out". And I even offered to have him make the deal right, and delivery them a little over half way. I received the reply that he doesn't do business with people like me and to stop emailing him.

I just want to worn anyone who may consider doing business with this guy and use caution in sending money first!!!

This was 3 years ago on another website and when I said I wanted a deposit before I rented a Uhaul to load cages and drive 250 miles you never responded back. Don't lie just to be spiteful.
 
And his post was made 4 yrs ago. You're a little late with your rebuttal, but that's no reason not to shed some light on the situation. Any details you can provide to show your side of the story would be helpful (rather than just claiming he lied)

I see the time frame now, I accidentally hit user cp and it went to this thread. I don't remember all the details but I do remember that when I said I would need a deposit to take of work, rent a Uhaul and drive 250 miles I never got a reply. I most certainly never said I would deliver them after I got off work at 5. I am a chef in a restaurant and never get off work before 10 or 11pm. Very fabricated version. Deposit=Delivery.

Yes, I sold them. When I told this guy "I didn't do business with people like him" I was refering to people that were vague and deceptive when it comes to talking about payment for transactions. Also this guy told me he was a "big name in the reptile business and if I didn't sell them to him he would make sure I never sold them to anybody". I had them priced very inexpensively and they sold quickly to a cash buyer.
