    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I need some serious help. I am still relatively new to the whole ball python craze, so I'm not sure what could be causing this.

Back in October, I started buying snakes to build a collection so I could one day breed and be a proud parent of my own little morphs. But recently, within the past month, several of my snakes have passed away, for unknown reasons. Now, I've taken my snakes to the vet before, and usually they have a respiratory infection, which goes away after treatment - and they end up being fine after that. The snakes that have died, though, have shown NO symptoms whatsoever to even clue me in that something was wrong. They were all feeding regularly, at a healthy weight for their age, I know the temps are right, the humidity and everything else I was too; when the vet asked for all this info, she told me everything was set up perfectly. But I don't understand what could be killing my snakes, especially when they are acting perfectly fine! I check on them regularly and they don't even show symptoms within a few hours of their death. I've just lost three snakes in the past two weeks due to unknown causes, and it's only happening to my ball pythons; none of the other animals I have are experiencing any illnesses, and I have yet to lose one of them. This is happening to my ball pythons in different racks, there is no rhyme or reason, and it is happening to both adults and juveniles.

Any ideas?

Also, could you post what your BP's are set up in (caging, heat type, temps, etc etc).

also where did you get them? are THEY ADULT. BABIES? I would say that if the setup is correct, but you have had several RI's that needed to be taken care of, there is something much more serious going on. Have you ever had mites in your collection? They can spread several illnesses from 1 infected snake.

Have the snakes in question had any strange defecations, ie loose or foul stools? Have they shown any signs of swelling?

I had a friend a few months ago that lost about 6 ball pythons in about a 3 month period, 5 of the 6 came from the same breeder and were sub-adult to adult, the 6th was an animal from a different breeder that had been placed in with one of the 5 for breeding purposes.

Now, he told me he didnt quarintine these animals, but all came from 2 very well known breeders in the industry, the big guys we all see listed regularly. He said these animals a few weeks prior to death had very loose and the most foul odor stools you can imagine.

he had no prior problems, and now seems to have none. He never did find out what was going on. Does this sound familiar to anyone.

i wpould bring them all to vet could be protozoa or they could be passing a neumonia between them. i would first start by quarentine all of them if possible get them away from each other and especialy the ones not sick. and then vet, vet, vet. good luck hope you figure it out.

Just a guess, but are your tanks fairly humid? Too much humidity spreads so many bacteria in a short amount of time. This could also explain frequent RI's.

What kinds of cleansers, bug sprays, air fresheners etc... do you use? Do you live near anything that may be toxic? paint spray, fabrication, glue etc...

Temps? Bedding used? Ventilation? Where do your feeders come from? could they be using pesticides on the feeders?

It really tough to figure out, but I'd lean towards bacterial infections from too high humidity or poisoning from something toxic.
