    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I've never gotten completely screwed in this hobby vefore, but I guess there's a first for everything.

Adam Meth advertised (with photos) a beautiful clutch of Diamond Pythons he claimed to have produced. He posted them on a FB classifieds page. He had a few good guy posts on here, so I felt safe in sending him a $100 deposit for a pair. He said after they'd had a few meals and a shed, they'd be good to go.

On June 28th, 2014, I sent him $100 through Paypal. At the end of July, I started trying to reach him to see what the status of the clutch was. First problem was that his Paypal address was no longer in service. Then I asked here if anyone knew how to reach him and got a phone number. I've left messages that have gone unreturned.

Paypal tells me that since the situation is now 54 days old, it's too late to file a dispute, so I'm pretty much screwed.

It's not worth the price of gas to drive to his place and smack him, so I guess he'll be living large on my $100 bill.

Just be careful out there.

Vinny

Any proof ? Texts, phone calls, emails, screen shots. I'm really sorry to hear about that. If you want to state your case definitely need what is mentioned above.

I'm sorry you got burnt. This seems to be happening a lot from FB people.

And it's always worth the gas to smack someone who will or did rip you off. If he'd do it for $100 he will do for $1000. And it might help him understand ripping people off is not good. And that's only if he's with in reach.

If he lived in NY,his $100 won't get him much. Lol

On a PC, there is a print screen key ("prt sc" in the top right hand corner). Go to the page, press it, open a bitmap image (right click + new+ bitmap image), then just paste.

If you used a credit card through PayPal then you can still file with your credit company.

I know this isn't what anyone's looking for, but it's the best copy and paste I could do. I couldn't get a simple screen shot to work for me. If this doesn't do enough to make this post worthwhile, please feel free to delete it. I was just trying to inform. I get the feeling he's trying to pick up some cash on his way out of the business.
His web page has been taken down.

OK I see the proof of payment. Anything with emails not being sent or any message regarding him blocking you that you can possibly add. This is exactly why I want to test the waters on my courier service. To prevent these Things from happening. I have been reading a lot of boi posts regarding people being scammed on fb forums. Not to sure what is wrong with people lately, but its making me very weary of buying. I'm really sorry this happened to you. Money is tight for everyone and every dime counts, but still no excuse to run off with someone's hard earned money. I would file a claim with PayPal they should cover it regardless you never were shipped anything.

WOW that stinks, I got a baby from him, I am guessing you saw it on Rare Reptiles Classifieds?

I must say it was an odd transaction and he acted very strange and did not want to ship when it was ready yet wanted me to pay in the balance and then wait a few months on the temps to get lower, its was 88-90F in both our location.
After a few days of back and forth I did get him to agree to ship and it arrived live and well, he also helped me get it feeding, it did not want to for about the first 2 weeks or so.

I tried to buy a 2nd one, and he told me that the only ones left where not feeding and would not be fore sale until they did so, so I did not feel he was trying to scam.

Has anyone alerted him to this thread ? To give him a chance to speak on his behalf ? Maybe with him.being notified of this thread it will get him to respond to you now that people are viewing it.

It has been 54 days, they will not ordinarily accept a claim after 45 days.

Yea I saw that in their policy. I would still try however. Especially since the time frame has only lapsed by a few days. They can easily check to see in fact nothing was ever shipped to this seller. It may or may not work, but if it was my 100 bucks no way I would let it go without a fight. I would definitely still try though. Show them the payment statement, and whatever emails or correspondence you may have from the seller to prove you did not receive anything from this seller. Speak to someone on the phone , and see where it goes. Doesn't hurt to try.

I agree with this tactic, it never hurts to try. But apparently the OP has already been in touch with Paypal and it appears they refused to take a claim.
The 45 day limit is worth mentioning because it is an important deadline and many buyers get caught unawares. If one is not sure of the intentions of a seller and it is near 45 days, open a case. From what I have read, a resolved issue taken care of prior to escalation is not held against a seller.

Oh sorry Lucille I must of missed that from the original OP regarding contacting eBay already. I do apologize for that. I'm curious why the OP never contacted PayPal before the 45 days up then. I'm not sure if too much trust was placed in this seller ?

Hi Vinny,
Sorry you thought I had burned you, but if you check your facebook messages you will see I have been trying to get in touch with you, but no reply. I just got back from the Daytona show, and someone at our shop told me you had called I believe last Friday. He wrote down your info but did not give me the number over the phone. I will give you a call as soon as I get into the office. I still have your diamonds. Plenty of other people waited just as long for theirs until I felt they were feeding strongly and the weather was appropriate for shipping. Nothing has gone awry. Feel free to give me a ring 9143843207.
Hope this clears anything up.
Thanks
-Adam

That's good to hear. Maybe he's just got some communication issues. Boy, that would make me happy

That's awesome, Adam. I can't find any messages from you on my FB, but I'm quickly learning that FB messaging isn't the way to go if you need to get in touch with someone. You aren't the first person to tell me that messages have gone unanswered. The thing that worried me was that when I tried to email you, I kept getting messages that said your email account was closed.
I'll give you a call.

Everyone else, never mind. Sorry about that false alarm.
