    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Hello everyone,

"Bait and Switch scam"

PayPal dispute in progress.

My name is Chas from Patriotic Pets and Got Boas? in San Diego.

Situation:
I attempted to purchase a 'bloody salmon het albino' from Joe Oswald / Bay Area Boas. At first everything seemed very professional. We are both military so we hit it off. We agreed on a picture ID, confirmed genetics, agreed on the price, but the wrong snake arrived. I pointed out why I felt the snake was not the same, he became defensive and argued that it was. Joe also claimed the pic ID we agreed on was only a couple of weeks old and that the snake in question was the only snake there for the last 6 months which is why he knows it is the same snake.

Supporting Details:
We agreed on the details (ID and genetics) in Facebook messenger, then he blocks me on Facebook in the middle of trying to resolve the situation, he then texts me and says we never agreed on an ID, only genetics. Not sure if he thought blocking me would hide the messenger messages, but it didn't. The pix I attached show the evidence of Joe's Bait and Switch deception. I have several other pix but can't load everything. There is also a thread started in FaceBook on 'Boa Constrictor Keepers' discussing this situation with additional snake pix showing the differences, but the deception is clear with just the few I attached.

I hate being the one that has to post this drama, but no one should have to deal with this and everyone needs to be careful with Joe.

Joe, if you would have just apologized for the misunderstanding, maybe because you were under the weather or something, we could have handled this. There was no reason for you to attempt to lie your way out of it.

Respectfully,
Chas

Sorry that you didn't get what you quite clearly agreed upon. This make Joe Oswald seem shady at best. Have you informed him that this thread is up?

Can you attach the messages that show that he specifically states he is sending that snake?

I don't think that's even needed. The OP is asking if "He" still looks the same which alone would imply that the conversation is about a specific animal.

EVEN if that's not enough, the seller states that is the ONLY one he's had for months which would clearly suggest that this wasn't a wholesale person with a generic pic representing multiple animals.

In addition to getting a different snake than the one he ordered, the OP now has to wonder if this different snake in fact has the same genetics as the one he ordered, especially in light of the seller's obvious lie about only having one snake like that in his possession. The OP paid for a possible super bloody salmon het albino. Assuming the OP can visually confirm that the animal is a bloody salmon, it still remains up in the air if it does indeed come from a pairing that could produce supers, and if it is in fact carrying the albino gene.

Very valid point.

Seems like the only hang up here is the seller not wanting to eat the $60.00 shipping which is completely understandable.he did talk refund.

I hit the submit button too fast.

The seller sent the wrong snake, for whatever reason it does not matter. I think he should eat the shipping costs it was his mistake.

True enough.

The seller stating that that was the only snake he had is an obvious lie, so anything out of his mouth/fingers is suspect.

Buying het anything is extremely risky (in my experience). If the visual is not panning out, I would absolutely not bank on the het aspect. If you can return the snake and get a refund. Do it fast. Even if you have to eat the $60.00. Good luck!

I was trying to work it out and biting my tongue while he was being a jerk. He then blocks me on FB right in the middle of my efforts to resolve this situation because I told him I was going to dispute it. He was truly being an “internet tough guy” and lying to me while I was pointing out his “mistake or deception” I provided the pix where we agree on snake ID, he clearly sent another snake. The genes may be the same but I can’t risk investing / gambling on this animal. I feel bad for the snake to be moved around like this. Very frustrating.

The buyer got exactly what he asked for, a 2017 Possible Super Bloody Salmon 100% Het Kahl Albino Male. I had sold the last of this litter 6 months prior and recently updated my photo inventory of every boa I had left so there was no way one was accidentally mis-labeled with another hypo blood cause I didn't have anymore hypo bloods. At no time did I state the animal was only a few weeks old or that is was my only snake. I produced over 200 boas in 2017 but I still do not post generic pics of the genes. The guy was nothing but a headache from the beginning nickel and diming so yes, i got irritated when he's contacting saying the snake didn't look like the right one. He also knew I was heavily medicated in the hospital while all the conversations were taking place. I will deal with him so this is going to be my only post on the matter. I have been breeding since 2010 and this is my first issue like this.

I hope everyone could see the inaccuracies in his reply based on the evidence I provided.

His 8 years experience is not relevant to the facts on the table: nor is my experience:
Prior to 2008, I was a snake owner from the age of 6. I started breeding Boas in 2008 with GotBoas.com. Recently establishing my business license and name to Patriotic Pets.

I have the entire conversion with me and the seller saved. I provided the screen shots where we agreed on the snake ID and you can see where he agrees and says the pic is two weeks old. “A different snake arrived.” I paid $1825 for this snake, so I expect the piic ID we discussed to match. Not sure how $1825 is nickel and dimes. I produced some amazing bloody stuff this past season that I planned to use this snake with. But if he sends me a snake outside of the pic ID we agree on, how can I trust this seller? Would you?

Respectfully,

I caught those lies, as well.

Also, usually when someone's says, "This will be my only post/reply.", I don't believe them. It's a copout for someone who knows they are in the wrong.

The snake you received is not the snake agreed upon.

I appreciate that Queen. I tried hard to be civil from the start and I have all the screen shots to prove it. I sent everything to PayPal.

I was trying to follow through with the refund with him but I didn’t trust sending him the Snake first at this point and he didn’t even want to cover shipping for his mistake. He insisted on acting tough and blaming me. We clearly agreed on genetics AND pic ID. Not sure why he would deny it. I attached the critical portion of the convo.

Not sure what he means by “he will deal with me” the entire forum on Facebook, Boa Constrictor Keepers backed me up on this and blocked him. The couple of people that chimed in non supporting said; it shouldn’t matter because the genes match, Were said to be his friends. But I can’t confirm that. He blocked me immediately.

I said it would be my only post in reply because I don't waste my time with internet debates and I believed my experience with selling boas was relevant because in the last 8 years I have never had a problem with the quality or integrity of my business. There are several flat out lies in his statements and if I have time I will defend myself with some screen shots. Otherwise, by dealing with him I mean through paypal since he wanted to jump to going that route. I only blocked him on facebook when he was messaging me after 10pm on FB and my personal number. I dont mute facebook since it's what my kids use and i have not blocked him on my personal number. I didn't know a group blocked me on facebook and I have no idea who responded in my defense but I don't appreciate someone who likes to hear himself talk so much trying to slander my name.

Scam?

The guy got yelled at by his wife for spending too much money and now he's trying to make a big stink about getting scammed when that's not what happened at all...
