    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I recently purchased two cages from James Church. As requested the cages were paid immediately, but so far they were not delivered, despite many promises. When contacting him, I received many different excuses postponing the delivery day by day... However, those were clearly invented. So far, it was not possible to solve this issue. I hope my message will avoid you becoming a victim too.
So far the was no option to discuss it over the phone to find a solution. A very sad situation.

Is this the same James Church that used to live in Charlotte, NC?

Would recommend laying out your timeline - when you first made contact, when you paid, and the promised delivery date. Also helpful to share any communication you have had (emails, FB messages, texts) to backup your story.

If you paid via PayPal or with a credit card, would see about submitting a claim to get your money back.

Prior to purchasing the cages, did you read this on their website?:

"As with any custom build there are factors to consider with Due dates and delivery times. from time to time we may encounter an issues that prevents us from Hitting a deadline. In the event of a missed date, I will do everything in my power to keep you updated and work with you to get the project competed.

(caps, directly off website)
YOUR CUSTOM BUILD IS SUBJECT TO SCHEDULING CHANGES DUE TO MANUFACTURING NEEDS. WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO HIT A DEADLINE, SOMETIMES THIS CANNOT HAPPEN, WE WILL GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO ACCOMODATE YOUR BUILID TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY."

This is where I think it would be helpful to see a timeline and communication records. While it makes sense that not every deadline can be met with custom orders, a customer should not be forced to wait an unreasonable amount of time. Can't say this is happening here or not without more proof.

You are correct, a timeline would be helpful. Even if we knew a timeline however, RIRE has given themselves an "out" to avoid any and all committal deadlines based on "manufacturing needs". If the client agreed to such terms in advance, they have basically waived their right to an "exact" deadline(s). Since the client has no way of knowing if RIRE is experiencing "manufacturing needs", the client can not prove or disprove that they are/aren't experiencing an "unreasonable amount of time" or not.

Each party may have different versions of what constitutes "unreasonable", but in this case, the client agreed to accept RIRE's definition.

RIRE commented on this subject yesterday in an incorrect forum, perhaps they will return today and elaborate further.

I'm not taking sides, just saying what I'm observing thus far.

Not stick up for him... but I know a few people who have bought from him and tho his deadlines sux. The cages are amazing especially for the price. Worth the wait but he needs to get his act togather on times.

Maybe it's a dumb question but your location states "Romont, Fribourg, Switzerland" so why are you ordering enclosures from a manufacturer in Rhode Island? Are you in the USA now?

I imagine that Rich or one of the other moderators will be deleting this linked thread soon, but here is a quick look into RIRE response yesterday.

Reading the other thread i find the part where they state they provided temporary cages with heat and light quite fascinating.
This would imply the op must be localish to the vendor and probably needs to update their location info in their profile.
Is it true the vendor did indeed provide temporary cages?

The OP needs to answer the timelines question and clarify whether he is in Switzerland. I can understand a delay especially if shipping overseas...but it sounds like maybe he is in the States?

OP, we try to be fair here and get the whole story, so it is normal for people to ask for additional information (ie don't feel like it's an attack or anything). The more you can provide, the more clear it is for everyone.

Sorry for this misinformation. Indeed, I recently moved to Boston MA. I will update my profile. I am now in contact with RIRE, I'll provide you more details if the problem get solved. A delivery was promized for tonight.

I have to admit, that my opinion of the seller went up a couple of notches when I read that....

Today was the 4th promise for a delivery, after more than 150 emails and many text messages... I'm still waiting and of course his cell phone is off. Surprised? I'm sure he will come with a freshly invented excuse tomorrow morning.
So feel free to buy anything from him if you think he isn't a scammer... I'll see with the local police how to get my money back.

Well I live 45 mins from boston and its not snowing so he is full of it about the weather. Sorry he's a pain in the behind. But I will say his cages are awesome. My friend pat had the same problems took him a extra three weeks but the cages are worth the wait. I just wish he would be honest and tell people they take awhile instead of trying not to lose a sale. I hope you get yours soon! GOOD LUCK

I'm currently going through the exact same thing with this guy. He's been telling me for weeks now that it is done and keeps scheduling times for delivery. Every single day he had another excuse. He gives me the same excuses when I try to plan picking it up myself. Yesterday I told him that ifi didn't have it by today, that I just wanted my money back. He went as far as telling me he was on his way, giving me the ETA in his gps (which was 10 49 pm) and then shutting off his phone. I have never seen anything so unprofessional in my entire life and he can't even answer his phone to discuss it with me.
