    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Take a look at maternal incubation.. Incubators are a surefire way to produce stuff just like this!

and this was proven when? Most deformities are due to fluctuation in temps... It is much easier to control temps in an incubator than it is via maternal incubation.

Seriously, sucks that the baby is kinked :( Do you think it is so severe it won't be able to live? It would still make a decent pet if it can function normally... Poor thing. How is the other little one?

I've seen some badly kinked caramels live full lives (go on Youtube and look at Ralph Davis's videos...) so I'd say giving it a chance is a good idea... If it isn't meant to be it will die... It sucks, but unfortunately you gotta take the bad with the good sometimes.

Still, 1 perfect Lavender out of 3 surviving eggs is pretty good odds if you ask me :) Try to look on the bright side as hard as it may be!

Certainly incubators can cause issues but so can maternally incubating.

I wouldn't leave possible $10,000 clutches with the females to incubate unless absolutely necessary, I have way better control of temperature and humidity in an incubator.

Having a stable incubator means having most of your babies turn out just fine, we are dealing with little lives here and to put it bluntly "crap happens" and it happens no matter what way you incubate your eggs.

Very sorry about the losses. :(

Maternal incubation is great (IMO) but it doesn't protect against deformities like these. I hatched a severely kinked baby from one of my brooding moms this year. This has just been a lousy year for a lot of people.

I had one just as bad ..... You will have to do some surgery if you want to try to help it. If you look at it you will see that where those kinks are the skin on the stomach is ether not connected or where it is connected it is fused together folded in on itself.
With out cutting and fixing the problems it's not going to survive and even then it might not. Sadly ours did not make it. I think ours had some internal probles also as it never thrived.

I would not recommend a Non-Vet performing Vet procedures. It will be more painful, and wasteful as one doesn't have the necessary training and equipment on hand. If one can not deal with the need to cull certain animals...one should not be breeding.

*Of course unless one IS a Vet with a list of friends to take such animals as pets.

I have no intention of trying to preform any surgery on the poor little guy. and if it proves to be necessary i will Kill it. but for right now im gonna hope it can survive and keep it as a pet if i can... sorry i just hate the word cull the intention does not change the action, its killing no matter what you call it!

I wish You all the Luck in the World with this little Beauty. IF He can eat, shed, defacate, etc...Well, I`d give him a shot, too.

It may seem cruel, but what's worse - humanely euthanizing or taking a 'wait and see' approach and cause further suffering for the animal? Reptiles may not exhibit pain the same way other animals do, but that doesn't mean that they aren't experiencing it. Letting an animal starve to death because its physically unable to feed itself is something I can't do.

Sorry but if you don't, then you might as well cull it cuz it's not going to make it as is.

On a side not, you Don't have to be a vet to do what needs to be done. If one can't handle it then maybe they shouldn't be breeders? Pain is not the same in them as in people and they don't do well with anesthesia, so pain is an different issue altogether.

Cull doesn't always mean kill though - it just means "remove from the gene pool". So technically, even giving it a pet home would be culling it. :D

I think it's worth a shot to give it a chance.

After checking the snake over more its apparent the kinks are even worse then I first thought...... Killing it is the only option now! Thank you all for your opinions!
