    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

What feeders do you breed?

Well I thought it would be interesting to see what feeders everyone keeps/breeds. Personally I have a extremely successful Turkistan Roach colony(red runners), of course they are extremely easy to keep and breed. I also have a fairly successful dubia colony (full rebuild due to problems from a previous group). And I have recently started up with supers (currently have about 15 beetles though these are my test run I will start doing the supers with many more worms to morph after the move). So what do you keep? What do you purchase instead of breed? I still purchase tons of crix every season for my babies but I am able to largely supplement their diet with my Turks.

right now we are only breeding the dubia roach's but in the past before we got out we breed superworms it was nice because you have size's plus its nice to always have feeders on hand, we also tried crickets they are a bit of a pain and we didnt have enough extra space to make it worth it, before when we had suggies we breed meal worms, pretty similar to supers, we currently are debating on breeding the supers again along with silkworms, as we have been getting 25,000 eggs, and our dragons for the most part love them.

I only breed dubia. I used to have B lateralis (red runner / turkistan), but let me tell you, those things are FAST, and they tend to be a very "infesty" species.

Everything else I buy.

I had dubia and lobster roaches, and superworms but only have a fairly large dubia colony now. although I really like the lobsters and how fast they breed and multiply...its just the fact that they climb EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING, so had to feed them off and stick to the dubia. Superworms are a bit tedious I think. I would much rather just buy them lol

I currently breed:

Blaptica dubia

Nauphoeta cinerea

Blaberus discoidales

Zophobas morio

Tenebrio molitor

I am interested in breeding more worms. I simply do not know if there are any others without a flying stage. I wanted to do wax worms, but I am not accepting of dealing with the wax moths. Same goes for the tobacco (or tomato) hornworms. I just can't contain flying insects.

I breed Turks and occasionally silkworms.

I buy PWs, Hornworms, and supers. After testing one of my forum members did on crickets I choose not to use them anymore unless its like an emergency.

I'm tossing the idea of breeding pinky/fuzzy mice for Frank but I'm undecided on that right now.

As of right now looks like I will be breeding silkworms again since hubby "accidentally" drowned my entire Turk colony. Don't ask, I think he did it because of the time when the rogue Lobster got mixed in and flew onto his boxers one day.

I have officially ordered a large breeding colony of hissers. Should be a nice addition to my feeding group.

haha yes it was a sight lol its alright i suppose, frank and magellan got bored of the roaches so its time for a new feeder anyway...hubby wouldnt touch the roaches but the worms he will atleast

I currently Breed and house.

Dubia Roaches
Lobster Roaches
Crickets
silkworms
Super worms
Meal worms

I'v grown tired of the silks and crickets a this time. I'v been considering cutting off crickets completely, and reducing my silks to just rasing rather then breeding. I'v considered doing wax worms also but never really got around to it.

Well the box came before I got home. Kristin moved it into the lizard room because the cats were far too interested. Now I must say that though they are still not near as bad as Turks, I was not truly prepared for what was in the box lol. Not to mention that I didn’t realize they hiss quite as loud as they do when aggravated lol. That said, I think they will be a very interesting species to keep and hopefully a great addition to my feeder program. Below are pictures from cutting open to feeding and all the in between motions lol. Only lost 5 in shipping which aint bad in a group of over 300. Without further ado here are the photos.

not much. Specially compared to how they produce. Very nice insect to keep.

That's some big ass roaches mate, how do the dragons like them?

Currently breed these
rats(left over from when i sold mt rat rack)
dubias(small colony now but getting there)
mealworms(damm there slow)

btw spyder 79 ,very nice hissers , been looking to set some up but everywhere i look the prices are high.

Just dubia right now, but for a while I've wanted to breed horn worms for a while, though... the moths are awesome-looking, I'd love to have those around, and Budo loves horn worms.

Real nice hissers, Brian!

I just keep a dubia colony, cricket colony, silkies (I have a mulberry tree on the property - so food is easy) and mice. I did try supers, but tired quickly of the beetles.

I must say Brian's photos make me want to get a little hisser action going; they're awesome! :)

Im not sure as of yet. My adults will continue to be fed supers and dubia. I purchased these cause 1 they are interesting to keep and 2 the breed at a much higher rate than dubia when setup correctly so i plan to feed the nymphs to my hatchlings. The adults ca live for 5 years or more and produce the entire time so feeding them off is a waiste.

I have a huge compost pile in my backyard that I created and somehow I got tons of phoenix worms in it. My friend who lives a few streets over had this same thing happen to him also.
