I have a common Musk turtle that's been with me for 13-14 years now. It was caught during a fishing trip, injured, and brought to me, and was likely already adult then. Lately I've noticed his eyesight seems to be off .. he seems to be hunting his pellets more through smell than sight. His skin color seems to have paled considerably also; more of a grey than the green/brown it used to be. Of course he's less active as well and definitely not so eager to chew a finger when I try to direct pellets toward him.
I've never had a turtle this long, so am not sure what to expect as far as old-age signs.
Anyone here with elderly water turtle experience that can give me a little advice or education? Hate to see the old guy having trouble hunting
Thanks in advance!
