    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I hadn't used Rodent Pro for over a year largely on account of their being out of stock on the sizes I needed and their slow turn around for shipment. That being said, I was always pleased with the quality of their mice and rats and the professionalism of their service.

After using a very popular competitor for over a year, I decided to try Rodent Pro again since the competitor was out of large rats. RPs customer service was good and their turn around/shipment was much quicker. They were willing to make adjustments to their stock quantities to satisfy my special needs.

Most importantly, though, I'm very impressed with the CLEAN rats and mice I received. They didn't stink like the rodents I've received from the other company (i.e., not dirty and/or littered with feces). The rats were also "fat".

I don't know anyone at RP and have no vested interest in this company. I'm writing just to let you know about my experience with their service and the quality of their rodents.

(I'm fully aware of the contamination issue about a year ago or so. I wasn't troubled by it and thought that some folk in our community were blowing it out of perspective. Therefore, I'm not going to respond to any posts bringing this matter up again. My observation is that several members of this list have part-time jobs commenting on BOI, and I don't wish to get entangled with them).

I should add that I decided not to identify the "other company" because it always offered me good customer service and fair prices. However, its rodents were consistently dirty and stinky. After I thawed its rodents in a plastic container of water, the water would be dirtied as if I had sprinkled dirt in it. Sometimes the rodents even smelled a bit like chlorine.

With one or two exceptions, Rodent Pro's products have been clean and healthy looking.

I always use rodent pro. what a great company, they have nice products and their shipping is always on time. They have really good customer service to go with it.

I have to admit, I'm not the most loyal customer with rodents. I have 4 suppliers I use depending on what's on sale, what I need, and size of order. I do seem to order from Rodent Pro on a regular basis. With their reduced shipping rates they are often cheaper on smaller orders and I can never pass up their $1-$1.50 per any size guinea pig deals they run from time to time. Always good customer service and always quality rodents.

I purchase my quail from them and never had an issue. I think it's very unfortunate with the LMCV outbreak that they had BUT RodentPro is one of the largest suppliers of rodents in this country and has USDA inspections regularly UNLIKE most of the smaller breeders. They estimated that 5% of the wild mouse population carry LMCV so it is not a rare occurrence. I am pretty sure the smaller breeders have LMCV outbreaks through their rodents colonies regularly and it is just never reported as there is no regulatory agencies that check on them. What I thought was really unscrupulous was when RodentPro had to stop their mice production that all the other rodent producers decided to jack up their prices to take advantage of that situation.

My RP order arrived today; The rodents arrived clean and frozen solid as always.

Last time I ordered, the fuzzie rats were a little on the small side however, they were within the size range they advertize. I just doubled up the feedings as needed.
This time when I ordered, I requested fuzzie rats that were in the middle of the size range in the "comments unrelated to shipping" section of their online order form. All I can say is; ask and you shall receive. The fuzzie rats are exactly the size I requested and very consistent in size.
I feel this is excellent customer service, especially considering the volume of rodents and orders they deal with.

I am like treeboa .. I order and deal with several vendors based on price and availability. I have always been impressed with RP customer service, shipping. and the quality of their stock. I have called them and they have called me on several occasions to be sure orders were right or to see hoe they could further serve me .. very accommodating. I have found their mice and rats to always be within the size parameters and very plump and clean (no feces/no smell).
I am well aware of their disease outbreak .. and while concerning and unfortunate ... it is not uncommon in many industries to have recalls for issues ... in fact I recall another large supplier having a health issue not all that too long ago.

Don't you just love the people who try and take advantage of that. I stayed away from them.

I agree

Rodent Pro products are very clean and well packaged. They always arrive still frozen, even the pinkies.

excellent customer service

A conversation that keeps popping up in the BOI is: the good guys are defined by how they respond when something goes wrong; this is one of those stories.

Last Friday (the day before Labor Day weekend) I received my order of rodents From RP. Unfortunately, FedEx had dropped the box at some point along the way, causing the rodents to shift around the void left by the dry ice as it sublimates and damaging the box at that corner (a tough thing to do, they use thick boxes). Everything stayed frozen except for a bag of hopper mice, which was 80% thawed due to it being knocked out of place. Some started to develop the dark belly as they went bad and could not be saved. I emailed RP immediately to inform them of the situation.

Tuesday morning, RP called me regarding the situation. The first thing that happened was an apology for the delayed response due to the holiday weekend.
After I gave RP the rundown on what happened to the box and the result on the hoppers, I was offered replacements to be shipped at the beginning of the following week (because labor day week was short, it could result in a delay in transit). Because I tend to plan ahead with my rodents, I asked, and we came to the agreement that RP would apply the credit for the loss of the hoppers to my account and I can have replacements shipped with my next order or apply the credit toward whatever rodents I need at that time (probably still hoppers). This way it saves RP some shipping and conserves resources in general (packaging, dry ice, etc... I try to be somewhat green).

I am very happy with RP's customer service and plan to continue buying from them. I have been ordering from them for the past 2-3 years now and Their rodents are clean, well packed and arrive frozen solid (except this one time, no fault of RP, remedied by RP). In fact, hoppers aside, everything else remained frozen as the hoppers created a buffer zone at the damaged corner of the box.

Thank you Rodent Pro for fixing FedEx's blunder

I'm going to disagree with most of the comments here. I placed an order for rat weanlings and small rats from RP a couple of months ago and was disappointed with the cleanliness of the feeders I received. Quite a few were yellow and had a strong urine odor to them. My bull snake will eat the rats just fine, she's a real bottomless pit, but my kings stopped taking them after two or three feedings. It was my first time using them. I had previously been using Layne Labs for my feeders but the $35 flat rate shipping, and a few positive reviews, compelled me to give RP a try. The packaging was fine but the feeders weren't very clean. I can't say I won't use them again but I placed my most recent order with Big Cheese Rodents after hearing good reviews and they had a $29 flat rate shipping special. If BC delivers as promised I'll most likely stick with them. if not, I'll just have to pay a bit more and go back with Layne Labs. My most recent order with BC was for (25) large mice, (25) rat fuzzys, and (25) chicks. The total came to only $71 with shipping. The same order at Layne Labs would have been $113.

After a few questionable from my usual supplier, I made an order & received my first box ever from them (Rodent Pro) today. The rats seemed packaged nicely, looked clean, & were correctly sized so I'm pretty happy.

Rodent pro kept their word with the hoppers damaged by FedEx in the previous shipment. The sent the replacements with the order I just received.

As for the order I just received, FedEx dropped the ball again: They had a delay that left my order in a container about a hundred miles from me the Friday it was supposed to be delivered. Fortunately, they managed to get it to San Jose and loaded on a truck by that Saturday for a Monday delivery. I had them pull it from the truck so I could drive the 2 miles from work an pick it up, advising them it was perishable. It was a good thing I did as when I unpacked it, all the dry ice had sublimed (all the rodents were still frozen solid though).
Throughout this entire ordeal, RodentPro was very proactive in working with me and FedEx on Friday and Saturday to get things located and even called me Monday morning (before I had the chance) to be sure everything was received in the condition I was expecting. They apologized profusely for FexEx's delay and assured me that if the rodents had in fact spoiled, they would fix the problem to make sure I was 100% satisfied.
Once again, excellent customer service.
Thank you Rodent Pro!

I've ordered from them several times. I just got a package today from them. Never had any issues. I order, they ship, snakes eat = it is all good.
