    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Quick version:
Going through a divorce and ex husband is being nasty. I'm without a vehicle capable of moving our two rack systems that house the snakes. He promised he would hold them until I could come get them.
He lied, and gave my snakes away to a rescue-"Reptile domicile" in Spokane, WA. I have a friend who said they are flippers, and as such I'm very concerned that my snakes may be sold without my permission.
Does anyone know anything about this rescue? Any information would be appreciated.

From their facebook page a few days ago:

Reptile Domicile

Just got in 5 ball pythons and 2 corn snakes due to a divorce. The other party is suppose to come get them. If not I will have them sexed and they will be posted and adopted out. All are healthy and very friendly. I will update the situation.

Sounds like you need to get on the phone asap.

What are my legal rights here? I paid for the snakes with my money and took care of them. Husband agreed they were mine. He gave them away without my permission--didn't even tell me he was doing it until they were gone.
If they sell them to someone can I sue them to get them back? They don't have the legal right to even own them right now! They were MINE and hubby gave them away.
I contacted them and SAID I WAS GOING TO GET THE SNAKES and they're still saying on Facebook they're planning to give them away.
What can I do, legally, to stop this?? This is theft! I've told them several times.

Rachelle,

Some practical advice: Calling the rescue and hiring someone with a truck to go get them *tomorrow* might be a good idea.

I don't have the enclosures--husband has them and has blocked me on internet as well as shut off my phone. I also have no money--he took it out of our bank account before he closed it.

Um, if they're stating:
...the other party is supposed to come get them...
then it sounds to me like you'd best do that pronto. Either rent a truck or find a friend with one.

They stated that because ex husband said I would when he knew I could not because I was out of town.

I also called and told them this, and they said they would hold onto them for me, told my mother as well. But Facebook page is saying different.

The handwriting is on the wall, if you do not get them immediately they will no longer be available. Perhaps you can get some snake friends to loan you enclosures.
If you have no money, would having them adopted take some financial pressure off of you? If not, get them right away.

This. Know anyone locally who keeps herps, who might be willing to help you out? There was a thread around here a few days ago for people from that area, I believe.

Dug it up. It might at least be a place to start, though there are no guarantees obviously. :shrug01:

Not sure what can be done legally. The retainer fee for the lawyer will probably cost much more than what it'd cost to find someone to help you go get them, I'd imagine. Divorce sucks.

Being as how Reptile Domicile's name is on this thread, I went ahead and sent them a link to it. Perhaps they can give their perspective.

You need to get a good divorce lawyer, what he is doing to you is a form of abuse. You also really need to go to a victim advocate and explain to them what is happening to you. They are completely free and will help you find the resources that you need.

:iagree:
Your ex is a serious jerk. Good on you for making him an ex.

Hi all! Just an update, I got my snakes from Reptile Domicile a few weeks ago, thanks to the help of my parents, and they all appear healthy and were fed twice while there. I gave a monetary donation--not much, but what I could do--to say thank you for what they did.
If anyone is looking for a good reptile rescue, Reptile Domicile was terrific. They were nice, they took care of my animals when my ex dumped them there without warning, and for that I am forever grateful.
Thank you!
