    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

The Herpstat 4 is our latest thermostat/vivarium controller. We added the much requested grounded outlets to this device as well as a auto dimming control for the lcd which will flash the lcd backlighting along with the audible warning if an error exists. Safety was our goal with this device. We added a mechanical relay that can be enabled to cut the power circuit to all four outlets in case a solid state component fails. Humidity control is also built into this device which can be as simple as timed misting sessions or full humidity control with our optional humidity sensor. We've added a soft startup feature to slowly add power on initial starts as well as a user selectable ramping between day and night time temperature settings as well as light ramping. A new revolutionary auto power matching algorithm constantly adjusts the power output to get the best regulation possible. We also added new AC control code that lets the device dim power in 100 steps to be able to finely tune the heating equipment. High and low temperature tracking now also records the time and day of the event. The Herpstat 4 comes with four temperature probes and is ready to go to work right out of the box. There is a lot of features to this device and the menu system makes it easy to set. Check out the manual in our download section for screen shots of the setup procedure.

Features:

·Four grounded outlets capable of true proportional heating.

·Constantly monitors and adjusts amount of heat necessary to maintain a target temperature (Usable range from 40°F to 150°F or 4°C to 65°C). Can also be used in non-proportional (on / off) mode.

·Outputs 1 & 2 configurable for Heating/Cooling/Lighting. Outputs 3 & 4 can be configured for Heating/Cooling/Humidity/Lighting with simulated sunrise/sunset and moonlight features.

·Humidity control with timed sessions or regulated with an optional sensor.

·Safety Relay can disconect power to all four outlets if the an error exists.

·Soft startup slowly applies power during initial warmups.

·User selectable temperature and light ramping allows day to night changes to occur slowly. (Up to 10 hours)

·Sensor Matching allows the user to digitally calibrate the sensor output to match other equipment.

·Night Drop feature built in with real time clock allows individual night drop settings for each output.

·Cooling function allows control of basic cooling devices.

·High / Low temperature tracking helps monitor heating system and enclosure efficiency.

·Individually selectable High / Low temperature threshold alarms.

two more questions:

do the pro and 4 also allow for checking their status online and have the email/text alerts?

i noticed there is only space to plug one plug in for each channel. if i want several enclosures (a stack of 4-foot cages, for example) on the same channel, can i plug a power strip into each channel as long as the total wattage for that channel doesn't exceed 400w?

Unfortunately HerpStat does not have a Mac OS version. I am a Mac user and use a program called Parallels to run windows programs on my Mac. With the software option you can monitor temps and get alerts as long as your HerpStat is plugged into a CPU with internet access. Each channel of the PRO and 4 can handle 400watts. You can plug a power strip in if you want to run multiple racks from each channel. I run 4 - 6 high racks on each channel of my PRO. You only want to do this if each rack/cage is the same and has the same heat source. In my case each rack is exactly the same with exactly the same amount of 4" heat tape installed in each rack. Just make sure you don't exceed the 400watt max per channel.

Because of the new release of the Herp 4, does that mean that the Pro's will be going on sale anytime soon that you know of?

(if this is a "snotty" question, disregard.. I just have had my eye on the Pro for quite sometime and have been waiting for it to hopefully go on sale sometime in the future) :) Now that the 4 has all grounded outlets however... hmmmmmm. It's like cell phones and TV's, i can't keep up!!! lol

The HerpStat July 4th sale will be here soon. Starting July 4 - July 10th all HerpStats will be on sale. HerpStat and HerpStat ND $10 OFF, HerpStat II $20 OFF & HerpStat PRO and HerpStat 4 will be $25 OFF. FREE SHIPPING is still included.
