    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

My female Flame has had some trouble getting the shed off so the other day i put her in a separate container with a hide and moist papertowels. I checked on all the geckos this morning when i got home and noticed nothing unusual. Tonight i go to feed them all and there is Flame sitting on top of two bright white, plump eggs. I had turned off the my incubator cause i thought she was done laying. So its back on and in the mean time i've left the eggs where they are.

Now seeing as none of her other eggs have hatched i'm not sure i should get my hopes up but i'm thinking this time i'll up the temps a bit more in the incubator and see if that helps. I had kept them at 82-84.

So i'm just wondering if anyone has had problems with their incubators being off with the temps? I am hoping that thats been the case and its just been to cold. As long as i left the eggs in the humid hide they remained white and plump, but as soon as i moved them into the incubator they would collaspe within a few days.

Thanks :)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

We keep indoor/outdoor thermometers--the ones with the wire that runs int the incubators. This helps us monitor the temps. I'm o/c with the eggs so I'm checking on them several times a day. Good luck with these!

I use those too. Actually i have three plus one that shows humidity. I also have a regular glass thermometer in there as well but none of them ever say the same temps. One will say 82 while another says 85. Its rather frustrating.

I changed all of the batteries in the digital ones so they all should be correct.

I guess all i can do is wait and see what happens :)

well if you say they are colapsing then the first thing i begin to think is are they fertile? have you candled them? second i think that the humidity isnt high enough because i incubate @ 81 degrees and have very little problems with eggs colapsing even the infertile ones stay plump they just mold over but i would suspect humidity over temp if they are colapsing as an added protecton i put a couple cups of water in the incubator as well to add extra moisture also what are you using as a medium and how are you adding water to i personally use albeys way described on his web site www.albeysreptiles.com it seems to work for me pretty well and i know alberto of A&M also uses this method also if they are colapsing they eggs might have to much air flow any way i hope this helps Billy

We use albeys way, too, and that works well for us. We keep ours in closed containers without any puncture marks and have been very lucky with this method. It isn't too often that we lose eggs. It seems though, that the eggs that they lay at the end of the season don't seem to be as fertile as those at the beginning of the season.

When I first started breeding I was having the same problem. All my eggs were collapsing whether they were fertile or not. I was using vermiculite at the time but the following year I switched to perlite using the Albey method. It does work very well. After using the perlite I realized the vermiculite was drying out too fast. Now when I get an infertile egg it looks fertile and never collapses because the containers have so much humidity. The only way I know their infertile is by candling or spotting a little mold. :)

As billy said, humidity is important, I have a hobavator, and I leave a sandwitch container with the top off alf filled with water. I also pour water into the bottom area.
Also I use perlite.

And it's been on 82 degrees for months!

with no bad eggs....that were good to begin with!.....knock on wood!!!

I started out using Perlite but switched to vermiculite. I would moisten it up and then squeeze it out so it wasn't dripping. I also kept a container of water in the hovabator. I'm pretty sure the eggs have been fertile as i could see veins.

I'll keep a close eye on the humidity and see how things go.

Thanks everyone :)
