I know i know... you cant do much with these.... but then.... you kinda can.
1 Can of Campbells Tomato Soup ( Condensed or not, whatever really)
usually the large can is enough for three or four people.
Milk or Water ( according to the can/ your preferences )
Bread ( Any kind you like, really)
Mayonnaise or Butter ( I like mayo, it crisps better *I think* )
Dill ( Dried, cut, usually comes in a little plastic spice jar)
Cheese ( i like using shredded mozzarella)
Start the griddle or skillet and wait till water sizzles when you drip a couple drops on.
take however many slices of bread you need ( ill use eight for two people) and spread the mayo or butter (your choice) on both sides of each slice. Lay them, as you go somewhere you dont mind them laying ( i do paper towel, or a plate) and once im done, i spread the cheese on four slices, and the cover it with the remaining slices for each piece.
The skillet/griddle should be hot by now, so you can now start the soup too on a/another burner.
Mix it according to the directions on the can and let it get warm. Mixing it and stirring it all the while. ( let it sit and soup can burn.... you dont want that ) once it is mixed well, you can add the dill if you choose. I like to add it because i like the flavor. half a tablespoon is fine. Keep checking the soup throughout the cooking process until it is hot. ( sometimes you know its done because it starts to steam, but this might not happen with everyone so just watch it/test it if you choose)
You can place the first sandwich on the griddle/skillet and let it sit. Check it frequently by lifting up the sandwich and checking the side you are cooking with a spatula, once it gets golden brown and makes a crispy sound when you slide it around on the griddle/skillet, you can flip it. ( You might not have to do this for George Foreman grills) Then brown the other side until its golden and crispy. The cheese will melt even after you take it off. Do this with the rest of the sandwiches, and then youre done!
Cut the sandwiches down the middle at an angle ( or in half) and pour the soup into a bowl and enjoy!!
I make these on cold rainy miserable days.
Definitely one of my comfort foods!
