    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Ok, I've been wanted to a get a leo for sometime now...and I've done much research, but I still have this question bouncing around in my head. Would it be ok to have live plants in the tank? Or would fake be better? What if the live plants needed to be in water? I saw these cool bambo plants at a local dollar store, ans they look like they'd be a nice addition to a viv...but the downside is, they have to be kept in water. (I think. They had them in water buckets at the store, so I'm guessing they need water.) Would it be ok to get a few separate ones, and get small containers of water with heavy rocks at the bottom so it can't be tipped over, and put them around the water bowl to give the cage a tropical look? I really like them, and would look perfect in the cage with the design I thought of. (I can make what it would look like on the computer so you can see)

I have some of those bamboo plants that only need water (not in my leo tank but in the kitchen) and I put them in baby food jars so its a tight fit. You could do soemthing liek that to give the bamboo the water and the leos not be able to get in and drown. Then glue some rocks around the sides of hte jars to make them pretty!

Oops! Typo! I meant to say wanted. ^_^ *stabs typo* Lol...yea, I don't really like typos. Lol!

Cool! I'll remember that, I'm already making the design of how I want the cage. You know those "Zoo Med Reptile Hammocks"? I was thinking of using those, I've seen people use them. And then I found one that had a water bowl in it! I'll probably be getting that, and putting it low to the gound, or add steps to get to it. And I'm putting the bamboo around it. I think it will look nice. ^_^ I'm going to be finished with the design soon, I'm just labeling everything now...so I'll be posting it soon.

Here you go, it's a bit messy...but it was just a quick little thing. There's four bamboo plants by the water "hammock" lol...there's a normal hammock, humid hide, two normal hides, slate tile substrate, and a calcium dish. I didn't put a mealworm dish in it, because I plan on feeding crickets. But I'll add one if it's a picky eater and will only want mealies. ^_^

I think the bamboo would look really nice in some of my set-up ideas. I'm trying to get an asian forest look to it, which is why I want to bamboo for the set-up. I'm going to make a couple more with bamboo...maybe I'll start making designs and host them on my website so people who are stumped on ideas for a cool set-up can look at my designs for refrence. ^_^

Thanks. ^_^ Considering that I put it toghether in only 5 minutes. Lol...I'll be making some more tomorrow as I have the day off of school, so maybe I could make more of them, and post them onto my website. I just hope that when it comes time for college, I'll be able to take a leo with me. (Wow, I'm only 13 and I'm thinking about college. Well, yesturday I was searching on google for colleges lol. I hope I can go to college where I was born, North Dakota!)

I would be kind of careful...monitor the humidity in the enclosure since these guys are desert animals you don't want it to be too humid as it could cause respiratory problems.

Yes I know, and if I do get the bamboo, I'll be real careful to monitor the humidity. We wouldn't want anything bad to happen to a cute little leo now would we? ^_^

Hehe....just a note....I ordered some tillandsia (air plants)...I guess last night...lol They require no soil...just light and to be misted every 2 or 3 days :) Sounded like a good match for a leo display...so I'm gonna try it out! Anyone have any idea where I can get some cheap cactus wood or cork bark tubes???....lol

Just ask around on some different herp forums and you should find what you're looking for. The only thing I'm going to use from stores is the necessary things. Other added things are from other places. (Except the bamboo)

See I spent a a lot of time yesterday searching around online for cork bark and cactus wood...I need like 10-15 pieces and I wasn't able to find it for cheaper than like $3 a piece...I don't want to spend more than $20

Oh I see...perhaps you'll find a place that sells it cheaper sometime. Good luck with that. ^_^

Did you try EBay?
I usually have good luck finding things at reasonable prices on there
