    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Thanks to some people over for my brothers birthday (saturday) my high yellow female leo is now tailless.
They were messing around with my reps, and I wasnt even around.
How irresponsible does it get. You think I should push them for compensation of some form?
They weren't family. Just some irresponsible kids, not thinking before acting.
The culperate is actually 19 or 20, so it's not like Im attacking a 12 yr old LOL.
But she had the nicest tail, very clean. Now it is gone.
She will regrow it, and it was a clean loss, but she will never be as pretty as she was.
She can't breed now.
Obviously, all my cages are now on 100% lockdown, especially when I'm not around.
I should be lucky no snakes escaped, as several tanks were left slightly open.
If I had lost snakes, somebody would have died.
Anyhow, how long do you think she will be out of breeding shape?
I have here seperated and in a sterile enviroment. I was really looking forward to breeding though.

Grr!! I'd be pissed about that. I wouldn't even be surprised if that person did it on purpose just to see her drop her tail, thinking it would be okay since the tail grows back. They have no consideration for how much stress it puts on the lizard to regenerate the tail. :uzi:

Hmmm, I know the feeling! My brother and his friends always want to see my herps, and once one went so far as to suggest that we chop the leos tail off "for fun" because it regrows! needless to say that child got a swift kick in the *bum* and is not coming near my babies ever again! although they were 14 at the time...I dont know what I would do with a 21 year old...Maybe a little legal action (cruelty to animals? or doing some pain and anguish to you because you were so worried!) would be fun!

it's pretty hard to break a leos tail off...they dont snap off just by picking them up by their tails..it takes a little more pressure..they dont want their tails to break off..with fat tail geckos one wriggle and "pop" there goes their tail

so like Xelda said, iwouldnt be surpeised if he did it on purpose..i mean..a 20 year old? c'mon now..

for a female it may take as long as 6 months, breeding season isn't untill february so she has time, just keep her enclosure clean give her lots of calcium and feed her a pinkie each week or once ever 2 weeks, the more fat she gets into her body the faster it will grow back, and dont forget to put some anibiotic ointment on the wound (I.E, Neosporin,Polysporin)

good luck

Thanks Everybody
I got a special setup, as recomended by a breeder last night.
I made an extra space available in my rack. Took a peice of cardboard, with the dimensions of the floor space. Pulled a shirt tight over it, and stapled it down. The staples are covers, and pose no threat.
She has a porcelain waterbowl, and plastic hide box.
This way her tail doesnt stick to anything, nor does it get any sand in the open wound. She wont be back with the colony until her tail is completely, or almost completely regenerated.
The hide cave was the one with the magnet on the outside, ya know so you can pop the outside off and look in. Well the moron(s) in question managed to pinch her tail between the cave wall, and the glass. Luckily for me, the gecko, and their own a$$ it was just a tail.
If they caught her entire body in the thing. There would've been some serious hell to pay!

Those dens have some serious magnets in them! I have one for my girl, and am always paranoid that she has a toe or something between the den and glass...I think I would easily notice a TAIL though!

Hope your girl gets better soon!!

yeah.
Seriously irresponsible for them to not notice an entire tail sticking out.
I never take off the magnet cover myself, to begin with. To avoid tha said accident.
When I do, I make sure no geckos are in there when I put the magnet back on.
Im surprised the glass doesnt break, you could toos the cover from 10ft away, and get it close enough and it would pull itself together.
Thing weighs like 10lbs (the magnet cover).
