    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Bad Guy I got ripped off. Kevin Olbrych

I dont think he meant to be put in the slammer just to rip you off. How did you make the $2900? Can you reverse pymt?

No. But he offered me the stars after the booking date of Feb. 23. When he got busted for illegal wildlife (I think he had rattlers) I am sure they confiscated everything. Therefore he had no animals in possession. I mailed him a check which got cashed.

Kevin was arrested again March 19th, 2017. They did not confiscate all his reptiles during the Feb. 23rd arrest(just box turtles and venomous from what I was told) and I saw he still had the Star Tortoises 7 days ago. Unfortunately I heard the scumbags have descended en mass to his residence to steal as much as possible while he's in jail which could be for a long time. Last time he bonded out in 2 days but much more serious this time so it might be a while. Hope this helps.

I may have jumped to conclusions as some of you have implied. Kevins GF finally responded to my messages saying she was working on his business. If I get the animals that I paid for, I will be sure to let this board know.

I am also waiting for turtles from him...

Kevin stopped taking Paypal last year, for some reason. He didn't really go into it. I, also, am owed 4 turtles, that I paid for last week. i saw photos, though I guess I don't know where and when they were taken. He's always come through in the past but getting any info at the moment has been tough. Somebody texted a few short lines. Not happy, though.

Let's see, where did we end up? Kevin has been released from being held. There were quite a few charges, and I don't know how that will be settled. Many involved animal laws (number of Florida Box in captivity, venomous reptiles, etc.), and it's unclear whether they seized his animals, as had been reported by the news, but contradicted by his wife.

I have spoken to his lawyer at least three times. His name is Angelo M. Ferlita, (813)254-7047. I told Mr. Ferlita that I would pursue this legally, if I didn't at least receive a call from Kevin. My intention isn't to make the situation worse, but $1500 is a little too much for me to just forget about. Mr. Ferlita told me that Kevin's wife disappeared, that he didn't even have a cell phone, but that he would have him call me, and we could try to make some kind of plans. However, it's been more than 6 weeks, and despite several calls to the lawyer, I've heard nothing.

According to Connecticut, this is a civil matter. I can take him to court, where he obviously won't win the case, and have a lean put on any future business or property of his. It would have just been better if he had called me, and said that he was getting everything together, and come up with some kind of plan, which I wouldn't be adverse to working with. But hearing nothing, I feel like I was scammed. I certainly am not suggesting that Kevin did this deliberately. But likewise, I don't believe he has the animals he is selling. I think he is more of a broker, who takes payment, and then purchases the animals for the customers. So the 4 turtles that I was looking for are in the wind somewhere. At this point, I would rather receive a refund, but for the last three months, this situation hasn't looked promising. Kevin and I had done business in the past, and despite a couple of times that it took him a little longer to send animals that he promised, I wouldn't have expected this.

Any questions, anyone can certainly email me at [email protected].

I would caution all of you who might consider dealing with Kevin in this way: he used to accept Paypal, which would have provided protection to the potential buyer. Had we used Paypal, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I don't know what went wrong with Paypal for Kevin, and why he was no longer using it, but switching to depositing cash in his Wells Fargo account, as I did on three or four separate occasions, wasn't something I preferred to do - not to mention the closest Wells Fargo bank is 30 minutes from my house. But if any of you do deal with him in the future, I would strongly suggest that you not do so, unless Kevin starts accepting Paypal again. It's not my intention to check the background of every turtle seller here, but when you get burned, everything changes.

In part I asked because he is posting classifieds ads as of this morning 6/22/17 with the phone number: 813-270-6282
[email protected]

Have you tried this number before? Also, thanks for updating us all Peter.

Ah Robert, thank you so much. I assumed he would resurface eventually, but it would have been nice if he had called me, and the other fellow to whom he owes $2900 for the Stars, before posting more ads. I sent him both a text and an email. We'll see what happens. I will post any updates. -Peter

Update: I spoke to Kevin last night. I texted him, and he responded that he would call later. He did call back, and said that he has had some problems, but that he is getting back on his feet, and that he still had two of the turtles I was promised, and he will get the other two, later this fall. I was ok with that. As I said previously, I have done business with him before. He was very apologetic, and I do think he is trying to correct these issues. Will update this again when it is pertinent. -Peter

That is great news. I hope he can send your partial order and then follow up with the remainder in the autumn season as indicated. Him regaining his footing is also desirable.

Why are people still buy from this guy

I've bought some things thru the years with no issues from him. I sent him 2900 for 1.2 Stars last week and he dropped off the face of the earth. I just found this:

http://openpasts.com/PublicRecord/KEVIN-OLBRYCH/1111345593999

He is in the slammer

Do a search on him and this is NOT his first trip to the slammer nor his last. His shipping practices are abhorrent. My tiny baby tortoises came in a [previously USED small size if it fits it ships box with no padding no nothing to keep them from tossing around or being crushed. The box was not marked that there were animals inside. I WAS pissed! It never even occurred to me to ask how he was sending them to me. I just assumed we all used the same boxing standards especially someone who has so many reptiles they are shipping.

I heard from Kevin a few days ago. In summary he says he doesn't have the money ot the Stars that I paid for. I saw that he posted an ad today for an adult pair of Cherryheads for 2K (probably worth a but less than this). I conveyed him an offer thru Fauna (PM) and text message that if he sends me those I would be happy and proclaim us square. I even offered to pay for the shipping. He would be settling his debt to me for a little more that 50 cents on the dollar. I will let you all know what he says (or if he doesn't).

On the fence here. Not so sure that he's wheeling anddealing to scam, but maybe to recover? I could be wrong. If he profits from any sales, and sends zip to the OP, ...

No he's not. The thread is locked on those cherryheads. I am giving him the benefit of doubt and assuming that he is considering my offer. I've bought stuff from him before and been happy. But he is in arrears to me for 2900 going back to February. I want him to make this good and I am offering an opportunity to get out from under it at a reduced cost.

BTW I used to line in Media. Hung out at Packy's
