    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I came home today, checked the incubators, and was so surprised to find this baby! Sorry for the lid and the blurriness, but this little one is quick and I don't want it to jump out! And it does want out, it's been clawing at the sides of the deli cup!

It's my first baby Leo ever, before today I've only hatched out corn snakes!

It only incubated 51 days at between 82-84 degrees...is that a shorter than normal time period?

I will get my Leopard Gecko book back out to look for answers, but in the meantime I'll go ahead and ask a couple more ???...do I wait a week like with my corns to offer food, and does it need to be kept in something bigger than the deli cup right off the bat?

I am surprised at the size of this baby, I can't believe all of it was crammed in that egg!

thanks everyone!

Congratz! You have a wonderful looking baby. But you have been a breeder for 51 days. ;)

You should keep the little guy in something the size of a show box. Not to big also, they don't like open spaces. Wait a week or less to feed, untill she sheds. The yolk will last her a while. 51 days is normal. At 90 degrees they will hatch at 36 days. ;)

Got to go, but good luck!

right on its the best feeling to find these hyper little guys running around. as far as feeding ive been told to feed after its first shed, so thats what i do. usually only a few days. supposedly they suck up the last of the yolk sac just before hatching to hold them off for a little bit.
congrats!

Congrats! Very nice baby and it’s only the first. :) Yeah, I wait until they shed before offering food. It should be in up to a week but usually around 4 days. Good luck with it!

Congrats!! I wait til they shed to offer food too and keep them in a shoe box size container with a humid hide and several toilet tissue rolls on the hot and cool side. I flatten the tissue rolls to almost flat so they can feel comfortable in them.

Congrats! I hope I'll be making a similar post in about two months... my girl is gravid :)

Congratulations!

What a pretty little thing! And all nice and fat! :)

Good luck hatching more..Seeing how excited everyone is when theirs hatch, I can't wait to start breeding mine!

congradulations new fellow breeder!...i have a question for all.What would be wrong with putting in food items before the 3 day-1week period?Is it wrong or just not necissary?thanks

Dave,
Well, it will probably put stress on the baby especially if you’re feeding crickets. Also the baby won’t eat anything until after it has shed and absorbed the yolk sac.

I've got a lot of babies that are ready to eat by day two. If you want to offer food like crickets sooner, offer them, but only leave them in for fifteen minutes or so, then remove them if they aren't eaten. With mealworms, I put in a shallow bowl of them on day two (2 small mealies each), in many cases they're gone by morning.

Great job and congratulations......

The way I tell babies are ready to eat is when you see the first poop in its encloser..... That can be anywhere from 2 to 5 days.....

i agree with greg they usually wont eat until after thier first poop but i offer a few small mealies in a dish immediatly because you never know and it also gets them used to the worms just my 2 cents

i like the addition of the moist hide but i have been lightly spraying the paper towels. the moisture is important for new borns from what i understand.
