    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Has anyone else had trouble with herpenclosures? I ordered and paid for cages and racks at the Daytona Expo in August 07. Haven't received anything despite multiple emails and phone calls. Currently phone calls meet a full message capacity. Mark Hauge

I own two herpenclosures racks. I'm pleased with the quality, and for a while, the price was right.

The first time I ordered a rack, I pre-ordered for the pickup at Hamburg. This was before Rich's website had the 'shopping cart' feature, so I just emailed him directly and asked him to bring me one. He responded immediately, and I drove up there cash-in-hand. I walked over to his table and introduced myself and he had no recollection of anyone pre-ordering a rack. Luckily, there were still some there, and I took one home with me. I was a little annoyed, but I could tell that he had a million things going on at the show, so it wasn't a big deal.

I decided that I wanted another one, so I emailed him again and asked if he would bring me one to the August 2007 Hamburg show. He said yes and I drove up there and picked it up. I had no idea that the price had jumped up $40 from the last time I bought one, but he gave it to me at the old price.

I think Rich is a good guy with a good product, I have just gotten to the point where I should be building my own racks instead of paying $300 for one.

I ordered two racks September 17, 2007 for $774.00 (CC charged 10/19) and haven't received them yet. I have had no response from Emails since October 23 (about 4 emails). I was going to start calling today.

Hey there Mark
fellow 'sotan here. Dealt with Rich the begging of last year, great cages took a hell of alot longer than expected machine issues weather etc- and some no calls you name it he and I went through it, but in his defense got 2 free cages at no cost to me SHIPPED so that offset the issues. I would do business with Rich again, and I may do so in the near future.

I talked to Rich yesterday and he said my cages were made and shipped late October and their location is unknown at this time. Most likely they went to the wrong customer, possibly they are sitting on a shipping dock. I had them held a week because I was out of town is how the mix up occurred.

If he can't find them he will get me racks ASAP; it appears all is moving on my order.

Mr. Flickner,
Were you not notified that they had been shipped?

Additionally, was/is there no tracking number?

My original racks were either included with some else's order, accidentally taken to a show and sold or beamed into space. It happens sometimes.

What's important is; with one phone call the problem is being addressed, Rich is moving to get new racks shipped. I've talked to him twice and he's left one message, he's working on the problem. I anticipate a positive resolution.

As far as I'm concerned I'm done here, I will post a final out come when my racks arrive. Remember I'm not the OP.

I have ordered several cages from Rich.

I do know that this fall, he was having issues with the router and that by December it was fixed. I think he had quite a backlog by that time.......

Anyway, last summer, I ordered two 48" cages from him. It was a late order on my part as I had animals coming in in less than seven days.

Rich personally drove the cages to the nearest Delta Dash facility in an effort to ensure that I got them in time. One of the cages was damaged during shipping by Delta (they noted it as such).

I fixed the cage so that it could be used (the damage was in back). When I informed Rich, he told that he would send me a new cage. I insisted that the cage was fine and that I could use it. He would have none of it and told me that not only could I keep the cage, but he would send me a new one.

While this in no way excuses a lack of communication over equipment issues or late shipments, my experiences with Rich have been more than positive. I would not hesitate to do business with him again.

I also had place an order with Richard (Herp Enclosures) back on Sept 24, 2007 and had intermittant communications with him until in Dec. He doesn't answer any of our calls or emails. His voice-mailboxes are always full, so there is no leaving a message. When we were able to get in touch with him, he continually had excuses for more delays (bad material came into his shop, machine failures, lack of parts from other sources). This is no way to run a business on line.

Although I have bought products from him at shows in the past and we are very happy with his products (that we got at the shows), we can not deal with someone who takes over 100 days to send out product that was paid for and continually fails to answer his phones or emails.

I received a voice mail today that my racks ordered in late November will be shipped next week. I spoke with Rich mid-December-ish to see how things were going; he'd had a materials problem with his supplier. We agreed it would be easier/more satisfactory to complete the order and ship after Christmas.

In his voice message, he did say he was out of town and on his cell.

Things haven't been perfectly smooth, but I chalk it up to the season and problems over which he has limited control. At this point, I would still do business with him. I will post when my order arrives regarding condition, etc.

I have bought 6 racks from Rich and have had no issues at all. Rich is a good guy and does his best to make things happen.

Rich is definitely a "Good Guy". To date we have purchased 12 elite racks from Rich (adult, sub-adult and baby racks). We have been extremely pleased with the quality of the racks and the customer service that Rich has provided.

I know that Rich is constantly building/shipping racks and attending shows. If there is an issue, I have no doubt that Rich will make things right.

Currently own several Elite adult and baby racks and plan to add more as well as replace other racks w/ more Elite racks from Rich.. Overall i love the construction, pricing and the way they hold heat VS. others!! Good guy, took time to discuss his racks over phone and save me shipping by bringing to a show..

I have rooms full of Rich's Elite series racks, they are hands down the best racks made. :yesnod:

Of course there is gonna be minor problems with a good cage maker as they are in demand and always busy.

I personally recomend www.herpenclosures.com as a great guy to buy cages and racks from, simply the best

I agree with Ed.....Rich is a great guy and there is no question in MY mind anyway, that he has a superior product. I think Richard would admit it to you himself that he has had some issues getting his product in his customer's hands as quickly as he would have liked.....but he has ALWAYS made good on all of my dealings with him.

I guess I would recommend allowing a little bit of extra time to receive your racks from him, but I can tell you that when you get them you wont be sorry you were patient and you will most probably wish you bought a few more! ;) JMO

What good are the best quality cages if you buy them and they never come. After a month of "excuses", I could never get a hold of him. I paid in full at Daytona and my credit card company finally got my money back in December. Is that good service?

Daniel I agree customer service is a big part of a successful business just ask Ed here how thing go when you don't provide good customer service.

I see a number of people posting about what nice cages they received but the problem here is that Dan never got what he paid for and had to wait a few months to get his money back. Hey there are a number of good cage makers out there and some with a really good product AND good customer service. Randy

I received my racks today, just over three weeks from our phone conversation and a little over four months from the initial order.

I would like to add one thing, they appear to be quite sturdy (and heavy) racks. Someone, I won't mention any names, was taking one rack to the basement on a two wheeler and it was not secured properly. This sort of older person had a problem with the heavy rack and the rack fell down about a half flight of steps. I expected the rack to be destroyed, three tubs were shattered but the rack was only slightly compressed on the two corners where it landed. The rack is fine, still square, doesn't wobble, all looks fine. I don't recommend this test. The other rack is still in my living room until I get my son over to help.
