    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

So all of my very first clutch are out of the eggs. I ended up with 3 super pastels, 2 pastels, 2 normal, and one I am not sure on. He/she is lighter than the pastels but not yellow like the supers. The head on the animal is much lighter than the normal but not blushed like the supers. Any ideas?

Pic 1 is just the animal in question by itself.

Pic 2 is he/she with the super pastels.

I probably should have gotten a picture with the mystery animal next to the normals and pastels for reference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also for those who didn't see my other post. The sire was a pastel orange ghost and the dam is a pastel het ghost. I for got to include the het ghost in my previous posts.

So if I got a ghost out of this clutch, that would mean that the pastel orange ghost would have to be het ghost correct? I added another picture just for comparison.

The POG is the recessive gene itself, he is not Het. ghost... He is a Ghost.

Since he is the father, all of your babies in this clutch are Het Ghost, Except for the lone ghost you hatched.

A Pastel Orange Ghost is homozygous Ghost (not het).
For the baby to be a Ghost (aka Hypo), it means that the Pastel dam must be het Ghost.
The baby inherited one copy, of the Ghost gene, from one parent and the second copy, of the Ghost gene, from the other parent. Making the baby a homozygous Ghost.

I am looking at the pics again... the second pic down... the snake in the top right looks to have Hypo in it as well, but I can't be 100% sure thought. Anyone else who has experience with Hypo see anything?

With recessive genes ....

Homozygous means that the animal carries two copies of a specific gene and it will show in the animal's phenotype (its physical look). A homozygous animal will pass that gene along 100% of the time to each of its offspring.

Heterozygous means that an animal carries only one copy of a specific gene and it typically does not show in the animal's phenotype. With a het animal, the gene has a 50/50 chance of being passed along to any single offspring.

For each locus, a baby will inherit two genes. One from mom and the second one from dad.

It appears possible. However, as with you, I cannot say so with 100% confidence.

BTW Josh, with the sire being a Pastel (homozygous) Orange Ghost, it means that all of his non Ghost progeny are het Ghost.

I guess I got confused as I didn't know that ghost and orange ghost are one in the same. Still learning :)

Yup, when "het ghost" is said, the orange line is implied. But there are other lines as well, for example butterscotch ghost, yellow ghost, and green ghost to name some. But not all lines of ghost are compatible with each other. Hypo is also the same as ghost.

Also if you hear "desert ghost" make sure it's clarified which: the single gene recessive Desert Ghost (which is a different morph altogether than ghost/hypo)
Or the desert (Dom) ghost (recessive) combo. Hope this is helping!

Cant you look when they shed and tell from the shed skin if they are ghost or not? If it is a clear shed they are visual ghost and if they have color pattern on their shed then they are not visual ghost

Correct. A Ghost has a clear shed skin.

Thank you all for your help. I am still trying to figure out if I have a super pastel ghost out of that clutch then. Out of the three I have, I would say that two are clearly just super pastels. The one though is either super blushed out or a potential ghost. Anyone with more experience care to lend their opinion?
