Greetings everyone! My name is Meredith!
I have been a lover of all animals as long as I can remember, and since going to college have been able to get more involved in the reptile world. I purchased two female leopard geckos and have fallen MADLY in love with them! Poppy, my chunky girl weighing in around 70g, is believed to be a Jungle het Tremper, Eclipse, and Blizzard. She was sold as the hets but no mention was made on her phenotypic morph, so that's a bit of a concern if I ever want to breed her. It's a weird deal but I love her. She was my first and now I know a bit better on what to buy, so that's how I ended up with Clementine, my Tremper Sunglow Enigma het Eclipse. She weighs in just under 60g right now, and she is gorgeous and the sweetest gecko ever! She was an impulse buy that was sooooo worth it. She is sweet, gives kisses, and loves to snuggle! And she has no issues caused by ES that require her receiving extra care. She just gets to have a pretty white tail and a sweet, derpy personality! Even though Clem is probably my favorite of the two because of how mellow she is when it comes to handling and how easy it is to use her to introduce friends to my geckos, I most certainly love them both dearly and wouldn't trade em for anything!
My short term herp goals are to get a crested gecko and another female leopard gecko, preferably a Super Snow Eclipse het Tremper, best would be if it was also an Enigma (I'm in LOVE with enigmas!!!!!). Hoping to get that Leo this year.
My long term herp goals are to get a Kenyan Sand Boa, and a male leopard gecko to start breeding, as well as a set of ball python base morphs to start breeding them. Some turtles and bearded dragons may make their way into the family as well! I would like to make breeding and owning reptiles be my hobby after I'm done with all my schooling and when I'm starting a family someday. I think animals are a great way to teach kids responsibility and open-mindedness, as well as learning how respect is different than fear. And it would give me a second good reason to stay at home with my children. The third (but not the least important by any means) will be the horses I want to have on my property, as I have been an avid competitive hunter/jumper rider for basically my entire life and want my kids to experience them as well.
Thanks to the herper community for sites like these! They are awesome to newer people like me! I like the access to research as well as personal experience stories.
