I have a female Lucy Texas Rat who eats like a champ. I otherwise own ball pythons, so she always looks skinny to me. When she is folded up, sometimes I can see the skin between the scales. Is it time to put her on a diet? I'm so used to plump snakes, which makes her look thin to me sometimes.
What is a good weight range for the females to breed? I've seen that 40 inches in length is the recommended general size, but nothing more specific than that.
She laid a clutch of eggs a few years ago, sadly they were drowned in the water before I got home from vacation. I'd thought she was a male who'd been housed with another Lucy male, drat the luck! She was pretty thin after that, but ate well and filled out, possibly too much, ha ha..
