    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I know this topic has been beaten to death lol I have read allot of threads about converting to f/t and really never had any trouble with the issue because i have always bought right out of the egg hatchlings. But i was wondering the forums opinion about the issue of converting. I personally hate feeding live! Just like the convenience of f/t and the piece of mind my animal wont get hurt. I just recently picked up a beautiful BEL girl she's currently 300g and has been fed live the last couple of months by the breeder and im hoping this wont effect her eating f/t. How do you guys offer f/t to live eaters? I have tried keeping a live rat around her inclosure for an hour or two before attempt the f/t rat puppet show lol i also leave the f/t rat in the tank over night. I have only had her a two weeks so Im not too worried yet and have attempted to feed her f/t twice and live once with no success. If i feed her live for the first couple months just to get her to eat is it going to hurt my chances of converting her? Should i just be more patient and just keep offering her f/t once every 5 days until she takes the bait?

and now the goodies!
"Ive already shown these so sorry if you have already seen them i should have updated pics in a couple months!"

I recently purchased a 6 month old from an expo who was used to live. I had no problem switching over to F/T. I attempted to feed every five days. On the fourth attempt he took it. I did nothing special for him. This is my first experience switching over so I am not sure if it is the norm or if my case was an exception.

did you just shake it in front of her or did you leave it in the tub all night?

Ive learned that slow movements seem to work better than shaking. It does take some patience. I sometimes have to take a break and let the rat warm back up in the hot water and try again. I usually try 2-3 times before giving up for the night. For me sometimes lightly bopping on the nose and then pulling away slowly gets a strike. I never leave food in over night as Ive never had a BP who would take a food item that was just laying there.

Great input! I will have to try that the next feeding. I normally leave the f/t rodent in the cage due to my old feeding method i would simply leave one in the tub and by the morning it would be gone if not i would just throw it out.

I don't have any luck with leaving them in the tub either, have had maybe 2 out 50 attempts. I use the dangle method, as none of mine will strike unless there is movement. I allow mine to thaw to room temp then I place bag in a bowl and pour in hot water, allow to sit for 5 minutes or so then add more hot water and proceed to feed. I dangle with tongs, slow movements with alittle jerking, sometimes I will tap it against the outside of the tub or the tail of the snake. Most all of mine take F?T voraciously but I have a few live eaters that will not convert under any circumstances.

Thanks for the reply! I'm def going to try a slower/ jerking method next week. I may also try smaller prey do you think this will help? She's 300g and I try around 25-30g f/t

I would personally try the live first - then offer stunned - then try a pre killed. Then after a few pre kill then start trying to offer F/T. But before you do that skip 1 meal on the pre kill to F/T to get the snake good & hungry. I have had good luck with this.
try stunned where as the rat is just jerking its legs but not really running at least twice. then the pre kill at least 2 or 3 times. then skip a feeding then try the F/T. If the F/T is not taken then skip 1 more feeding.. Trust me this won't hurt the snake but just make it a bit hungry. Try F/T again. If not then try the stunned again and so on and see if at one point you can get to eat the F/T.
Good Luck

Great! Thanks that's exactly what I'm going to try. You guys are so helpful fauna has an awesome community ill keep you guys updated!

I've done the rock star method sucessfully after normal f/t offerings didn't work when converting. You have a head start since she is already taking rats. Converting a live mouse eater to f/t rats can take alot more patience.

What ever you try I suggest that you do not touch the BP with the rat.

I just got my Clown switched over after months of trying. Turns out he likes f/t at about 115 degrees or more. My others only require about 100 degrees or less.

Congrats! Im def going to try rock stars method but im trying a week break and a f/t first.

I use ziplock bags letr them thaw out then a little warm (not hot) water keeping them dry.
If they get to got aka: cooked they tend to "pop" and that gets messy.. Just what I do. I am sure others do it well also in their own way.

I have a p/k that I froze last week so hopefully she will gotl for that fresh frozen rat going to give her a week off get her extra hungry.

I use a crock pot dedicated to rats. Set on low. rats in a plastic bag. Im looking for one that has more of a temp control dial rather than low-med-high so I can dial in the temps more exact.
