    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. ATTENTION all fauna members this man brien klein has an add up for box turtles for sale or trade.He doesnt state in his add that these are WC turtles!!! I just want evryone to know about this man and i want everyone on fauna to see the pm this man just sent me i wish i knew how to post it here.He states that he feels he is rescuing these turtles by taking them out nature and selling/:angry:trading them for a 100% profit.
I just dont think selling animals you go out and catch is rite please some one help me to post his pm for all of fauna to see.

Wow im very dissapointed you had all these box turtles and you only gave me 6 for 6 adult proven leos i gave you a hell of a deal you made it sound like these were all you had and NOW you have all these im postiver these are all wc and you got 6 proven leos for FREE all you had to do was go out and walk in the wood and catch some turtles. The turtles that I had pictured at the time that we made the deal was all that I had at that time.

I updated the ad as I added more turtles.

You never asked if they were WC and if you had I would have never hidden that fact. It takes me all day to find these turtles. Besides the gas and time I am also dirty and tired when I get home.

It is not illegal in SC to catch EBT's.

For your information I found 7 turtles yesterday and 5 today. We have been having a lot of rain here and it drives them out of their hiding spots and into the open, when I am looking for them I consider it better than them getting hit by a car. It may sound crazy to you but I actually feel like I am rescuing them. Today alone between my wife and I, we saw 8 turtles dead in the road.

Because of the fact that I didn't pay for them I was willing to take leo's with bent or broken tails. I told you that I would not mind taking the regenerated ones.

If you sent me the 2 SHCT regen's, your ad stated that they were "virgins" not proven.

What is scary is that instead of talking things out and expressing your concerns, you just totally jump down my throat. THAT makes me not want to do business with you again.

What do you feel would be a better deal? If I did the deal that you originally proposed I would have had 2 turtles left not knowing If I would find any the next time I went out. I can not count how many times I have gone out looking and not found any.

Saying that "I just walk around the woods and get turtles for free," is ridiculous. That's like me saying that you just incubate leo eggs that are free to you, which we both know is a little far fetched.

To get the 5 that were found today I went out at 7am until 11am and found 2. My wife found 1 alive juvi and 4 dead in the road on her way to her parents. After I picked my kid up from school he and I went looking after it rained and we found 2 more alive and 3 dead. About 8 hours of my time. Like I said it took all day. When I am "working" at a real job I make approx $400 a day. My last position was VP of Operations at a multi location money services business. So in my eyes it is up to ME to decide what my time is worth.

The funny thing is that in the first explosive pm you were complaining about how many you gave vs. what I gave you, implying that if I had given you more you would be ok with the deal. You were worried about the value part of your end of the deal. Which is something that no one can guard except you and which needs to be done before the animals are shipped.

Weird.

The thing about catching and selling ten a year is news to me. As far as I knew it was not illegal in SC to catch them and keep them or do what I wanted to do with them, such as sit back and watch cars hit and kill them. Which I would never do.

Funny thing is in the original add that she posted she was trying to trade her leo's for garter snakes and if I remember correctly she said that she didn't care if they were WC or babies. I tried to copy the add from my history but she has deleted it. Maybe a moderator can bring it up.

Questions for Shelby...

If you make a trade of x for y....and you're happy with that trade or you wouldn't have agreed to it....then you later find out that the other guy has collected more of "y" than when you made the original deal.....HOW DOES THAT INVALIDATE THE ORIGINAL DEAL?

How do your turtles suddenly become less valuable because he found some more? Is it because they were WC? Why didn't you inquire about that before agreeing to the deal in the first place, if that condition was so critical to you?

Just based on what I've seen here so far, all I see is an extreme case of sour grapes.
 
Her garter snake ad was ad # 180884 under garter snakes category.
Can I get some help digging it up and posting the original ad here please?

The only thing that I am at fault for is not stating the obvious which is that they were WC and my ignorance of the SC law which if I read correctly it states that 20 is the limit.

First thing in the morning I will be turning out 3 of them leaving me with 14.

(A) It is unlawful for a person, or a group of individuals traveling in one vehicle, to remove, or attempt to remove from this State more than ten, either in one species or a combination of species, of the named species of turtles at one time with a maximum of twenty turtles of these species, either individually or in combination in any one year: yellowbelly turtle (Trachemys scripta), Florida cooter (Pseudemys floridana), river cooter (Pseudemys concinna), chicken turtle (Deirochelys reticularia), eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina), eastern painted turtle (Chrysemys picta), spiny softshell turtle (Apalone spinifera), Florida softshell turtle (Apalone ferox), and common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina).

Am I interpreting this correctly? That I can sell 10 at a time but no more than 20 a year?

It doesn't say anything about selling them only collecting them. What you have posted states you can't collect more than 10 a day or 20 in a year of one of the said species or combined species. The law might be the same for selling them but it does not state that. There might be more stipulations regarding the sale of native fauna collected in the wild in SC.
 
I don't agree with taking EBT's out of the wild at all but, at this time of year all the adds you see of EBT groups or trios probally 99% of the time are WC.

Sure the add should have said WC, and that's the only "fault" I see with Brian, but the deal was agreed upon by both.

As much as I despise the practice of taking EBT's...(yes, Taking, not saving) Brian has broken no laws and kept up his end of the deal that was agreed to.

I think a Bad Guy tag is uncalled for.
 
Should be an inquiry. Brians not a bad guy. He should have told you they were WC, but if you were so worried about it you could have asked. And wouldn't the price give it away? Id imagin CBB EBTs cost more then WC...

I don't think the sellers ethics of whether it's right to remove box turtles from the wild is what the boi is for.

Like stated in a previous post 99% of the EBT's you find on here during certain seasons will be wild caught.

I read the whole complaint form the op and as I understand it the op though she doesn't agree with taking EBT's from the wild she feels she deserved more of them for her trade?
Also the ops method of collection whether catching, or purchasing doesn't change the trade value.

By the way did you tell the op that your geckos where captive bred, or did you lead him to believe that you spent all day in another country catching them yourself?

It's sad how many posts like this we see on the boi lately. Grow up, and think before you post a "bad guy" thread.

Yeah catching these turtles doesn't make him a good guy, but you got the trade that YOU BOTH agreed on. Not a bad guy!

Folks please remember that MANY of us take this business as well as this site very serious. Please don't make a joke out of it.

Like I stated earlier, in the ad that she placed and directed me to concerning her wanting to trade her leo's for garter snakes. I am 99% positive that I remember her stating that she did not care if the garters were wild caught.

My question is: Is the life of a garter snake any more or less valuable than that of an EBT? If she doesn't care if a garter is WC then why would she care if a EBT is WC?

If one of the mods would post a copy of her original ad here for all to see then it would be resolved if she truly had an issue with WC animals or if that was simply a smoke screen to cloud her real issue of simply wanting to get more for less, which is the real issue proven by the fact that her original proposal to me was 9 leos for 10 EBT's.
When she proposed that I simply told her that I wanted to trade even and that I would even take her leos with regen tails. (I have all pm's and emails to prove my statements)

Lastly but more importantly, she approached me for this trade.

I am truly and shamefully embarrassed over this whole thing. I wasted my whole night till 2am defending myself instead of spending time with my family.

HIdden means you did not state the truth on purpose. Your words not her's.

If you make $400.00 a day, why are you depleting the wild of these?
 
Ok i dont have a problem with WC animals i have a problem with individuals going out them selves and catching animals for sale or trade for a 100 % profit yes i didnt mind if the garters were Wc and also what you dont state is how you changed the wording in your add daily your first post said im putting these up for sale due to me losing my job which made it sound like these were your collection and you actualy cared for these turtles then all the sudden you claim they are being rescued by you and thats some BS what you are doing is wrong and you know it.FYI im not the bad guy you are i have many satisfied customers and plenty of good guy posts!!!!!!

Your offer was for 9 gex for 10 EBT's. It would not work to not give you any of the high yellows because most of them are high yellow. Last night we had a heck of a storm and I dragged them onto the porch so that their "pool" would not overflow and they had mud all over them. Today they are clean and you can better see the coloring. Besides that I am not into the genetics side of it and prefer not to dicker over that issue. I was hoping to simply trade even.

If this doesn't sound fair to you let me know I want us both to be happy with the trade. I actually don't mind taking the regen tail gex except that I prefer not to have the albino male.

How about explaining how you said that 2 or 3 of the leos were virgins and then attacked me and said that you traded me ALL proven leos.

There are ads on the turts page right now that do not state that they are WC and we all know that they are but do we need to attack them individually for something that we know is true? If there was a RULE that stated that we must divulge that fact then that would be one thing.

Stay focused.
 
By the way i had copied the original ad so that I would not delete it on purpose and so that I could edit it faster and offline if needed.

For sale or trade: 4 male 3 female Eastern Box Turtles.

I am willing to trade for leopard geckos, crested geckos or day geckos.
I am not interested in owning any albino geckos (just a personal choice).

Top pic is of females bottom is of males.
The friendliest female (bottom left in top picture) has rough texture to the shell above the head area.
Two of the males(bottom left and top right in bottom picture) have significant chip in the shell above the head. All others(male and female) appear to be healthy specimens.
All turtles are eating well on fruit, superworms and earthworms.

All legs and tails have been accounted for!
Unfortunately there will be no sales available to states where the EBT's are protected.

100% profit? How is our deal different than the deal you were proposing in the garter snake classifieds? You would have still traded reptiles, instead you would have garters instead of turtles?

Rainbow man hmmm.
I am not depleting the wild sir. Most of these turtles are SITTING in the road waiting to get hit by a car. Some are crossing, some are sitting hidden in their shell.

I said I would not have hidden it. It was an oversight. As already stated above at least 3 times we all know that 99% of EBT's unless otherwise stated are WC, especially this time of year.

All this does cause one to wonder though Brian, how many box turtles have you caught so far this year?

You mentioned in the PM that you caught 12 in two days, the day you wrote the PM and the day before. The original ad you just posted listed 7 available. Were these 7 also caught this year?
