    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

I am currently looking for someone who uses card holders on their racks or bins. I am using the Herper Pro software and I can't seem to find a place to order card holders for.

I have seen some folks use stickers and other methods but I am constantly cleaning and what not so I do not think a sticker method would work for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Josh, what size does the software print the labels off at, or does it give you options to adjust sizes? I have cage tags that I put into plastic sleeves. The sleeves come from Walmart, they are technically baseball card protective sleeves.

This picture is a couple years old, but you get the idea. I velcro them to the cages and can move them around as the snakes move around too.

What it seems to do is essentially take a single sheet of paper and turn it into four cards. I do like the velcro idea

Glad you guys like the velcro idea. Never have any issues with it when it is time to wash tubs either. Here is an update picture of what the racks look like when it is not breeding season.

I use 4 "feeding" tags with velcro:
1. Ate
2. Rodent still in cage
3. Off feed
4. Didn't eat

When I bring several hundred rats in for feeding, I need a quick way to track feeding. I leave the "ate" tag on unless it changes to the other tags. So from one week of feeding the "ate" tag faces on direction. The next feeding, I will rotate the "ate" tag a different direction to distinguish between feeding periods. I also use dry erase marker on the "ate" tag to track how many rodents they ate during each period.

Anyways, everyone has their own methods, this just happens to work for me.

Robert do you change the pictures of the snakes as they grow or just use a baby pic the whole time?

Anthony, I update pictures occasionally if time permits, usually a one baby and one adult picture is about it. I'm more of a visual type person, so pictures help me sort quicker.

I am totally stealing this idea! My post-it note system is getting a little tricky to maintain.

That is so awesome and even color coded. Robert you have a SYSTEM going on!!

Thanks Lucille, the colors again are for faster reference. As you can see in the first picture, I "used to" use full post-it notes, but those are basically junk falling off all the time with humidity and washing tubs.

You can see slivers of post-it notes which are mostly temporary (only attaching the part of the post-it note that actually has stickiness). The slivers are color coordinated to the males that will be going with the females. I track locks on the slivers and when I have seen enough locking, I take the male labeled "in green" and find the next cage with a "green" sliver waiting for him.

Anthony, feel free to steal all you like!

I really like the rodent still in cage notes, I go nuts every week trying to remember who I saw eating and going through cages to make sure nothing is still in there with them. I hate feeding anyone in the vision cages, I've had rats and mice a few times wedge themselves into the little ledges on the top and bottom of the doors so the cage looks empty when you check it only to find one in there later.
