    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Well, here we go with yet another bad guy thread.
I hope this helps others avoid this clown.

I contacted Albert in regards to this ad:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=642757&highlight=loggerhead
He pm'd me asking me to call him, which I did. After a very long conversation I agreed to purchase 8 loggerheads. The deal was for 2.4 - 4" loggerheads represented in the photo in the listing and 2 extra males he calls salt and pepper to pair up some females.

They were supposed to ship out Wednesday December 13th.
There was delay after delay and they never shipped.
First it was food poisoning
then his pipes supposedly froze
then when he went to pack the box he was out of females that he would have to get breeders out of his pools.
When that was too much trouble to get animals out of his pools - he would go collect more (claims he has a permit to collect in Georgia).
It has been one thing after another.

January 4th he claims to have left to go collecting. He did call and tell me he didn't find any or whatever for a week.

On January 11th he says he only found a few so far. What really concerned me during our conversation was when he said he may have to take the loggerheads to Florida while he went collecting there. He even mentioned getting mangrove terrapins and asked what I would pay for them.
At that point I requested a full refund.
He agreed to refund to my money though I have not received anything from him.
I followed up with an email requesting the refund (that he agreed to) and also confirmed I do not want any animals from him.

I suspect there are others here in the same boat, seems like he needed money for Christmas shopping so he posted the ad, collected the money and never shipped me anything.

I hope this helps others, and really hope PP resolves this one quickly.
I can post emails of some of the communications (some was done by phone).

Awesome, I
will send over payment this evening!
Lookers are good, I do enjoy
watching them and the pretty ones draw attention, but I am
ok with some plainer ones or chipped shell etc. Really
looking for the best breeders. The babies will all be
pretty:)
As for size,
Preference would be young breeders (as long as you think
they will acclimate and breed), some larger or smaller is ok
to. If you do have any extra salt and pepper
females let me know (wasn't sure if you had extra or
just helping me out).
Thanks again!
Mark

Sounds like you got the run around...I hope PP returns the funds to quickly. A lot of red flags with having the animals, then not having them, or needing to go collect them, etc.

Payment info

Mark,
Sorry you're having to go through this, it's making it harder too pull the trigger when you find what you're looking for online.

I happen to live 30 minutes from Buffalo, Missouri, where this scammer hails from.

Buffalo, is in Dallas County, I know the Sheriff there, and he frowns on scammers, so I'm including the Sheriff's Dept. info, it won't hurt to call, and see if there's anything they can do, if nothing else, Albert will now be on there radar.

Dallas County Sheriff's Dept.
204 Poplar St, Buffalo, MO 65622

(417) 345-2441

Buffalo Police Dept.
311 Poplar St, Buffalo, MO 65622(417) 345-2709

Regardless if he lives in the county, or in the city limits, I'd call both Departments!

If there's anything I can do for you here locally, don't hesitate to contact me......

The very best to you in resolving this situation, and getting your money returned.

Thank you, Lynn! I have a feeling I will be contacting them soon. I did get a couple replies from him today, more of the same unfortunately. I will post them below.

We agreed
to a refund during the phone conversation on Jan 12th, just
refund the money. It literally only takes a minute
(traveling or not).
There is nothing more to talk about, Albert. It has been
more than a month, you had every opportunity to ship your
breeders etc. I also told you during that conversation (on
the 12th) that I was going to purchase another group of
loggerheads, which I did. From this point forward I want
all interaction to be through email so it can be submitted
to paypal.

I really don't think I am being a whiner (check
you spelling), you have had over $400 of my money for more
than a month, and I have not seen or heard anything but
repeated excuses.
You took money for animals you did not have, and
repeatedly have not followed through with your promises -
that sir is called poor business.

Just do the right thing and refund the money promptly
so we can all move on from this. I will be happy to close
the PayPal claim and update the boi thread on fauna once
this has been resolved. Unfortunately I assume you don't
have the money or you would have already refunded it.

Hello Mark.

Wish you All the Happiness in the World you miserable

all we have is our word.

Albert(The meanie,Bad,Bad Dog)

Must say, he is very professional. Apparently this is my fault (after 5 weeks mind you) for not being patient.

Lynn, you were also correct about it getting harder to buy on line. This will certainly affect my decisions going forward about who to purchase from.

After his responses, I am convinced he just doesn't have the money to refund. Typical scam, collect money from as many peopleas you can, then turn defensive when they confront you on it.

Very typical of a scammer when cornered.............

Mark,

If you can would you please repost the last response from Albert as a screen shot. His post is so disturbing and ugly, I do not want anyone who reads this in the far future to afford him any wiggle room because of the format.
A screen shot will show with no room for excuse or question, just how he treats his customers who have valid issues.

Very pathetic behavior! He is definitely a bad guy to be avoided based on his childish, ridiculous attitude and his basic theft of over $400. I hope everyone who considers this seller checks this thread first and sees what kind of person he is.

Scammer??What happened to Flim Flam Artist?? Ohh that's the 70's..

I deal with hundreds of people every year.Dozens of Commercial Dealers as I am doing now.
Again a Bad Fart in my Day.Paypal is handling it.So,what the deal again???

As Far as Lynn Peterson who doesn't even know me.The Buffalo Police do.So does the Sherriff.I am a No problem regular guy with them.See them everyday in Fact when I go to Town.Yeah,I'm a Real John Dillinger.Public Enemy Number #1 !!!
Live there since 2005.

So,Lock up your daughters,Lock up your wives, run through the Back Door and Run for your Lives!!!

Kind of Cool !!!

And ahh Lynn,I have heard about you for more then a Decade.Never tried to contact.WHY because nothing I heard WAS GOOD!!!

Wow how professional of you Albert...
Your rant solved nothing.
And who go's herping for turtles to sell in January? Yeah I'd love a turtle that was just pulled from an ice cold pond.
Mark of hope you can get your money back soon.
Goodluck with this guy.

At that point I requested a full refund.
He agreed to refund to my money though I have not received anything from him.
I followed up with an email requesting the refund (that he agreed to) and also confirmed I do not want any animals from him.

After this thread, I would not do business with Albert, and part of that has to do with the way he has comported himself here. If anyone decides to take that risk, I suggest getting everything in writing, that is always best.
And ahh Lynn,I have heard about you for more then a Decade.Never tried to contact.WHY because nothing I heard WAS GOOD!!!
This is pretty juvenile. I know Lynn from positive, thoughtful posts here on Fauna.

Albert, your response did nothing to help your case, not your reputation, you look childish. You would've been better off staying silent.

"PayPal is taking care of it." That's a cop out, what a scammer says when he knows he's been caught. You should have just refunded your customer immediately when the issue arose. That is the action of a good business man, instead you forced him to make claims through PayPal to try to get his money back.

I suggest getting everything in writing, that is always best.

LOL, you think putting something in writing with this type of person would make any difference ? It would just be another Ty Parks case ... taking forever to get a refund - if ever - going the legal route. They know that.

It would be great if Fauna or someone could just make a list of those to avoid for a quick reference rather than searching through a bunch of threads. I'm sure that would drastically cut down on people being taken.
