    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I have dealt with allen for over a year now and never had a problem. But in the past 2 months I started sending him boxes c.o.d. since he has been a good customer. The first thing that happened is I got a check made out to the wrong name, so I sent it back for another. Allen "mailed" the check 2wice and it got " lost in the mail" twice. Check for $925.00, on top of that on another cod order for $1200.00, he just bounced the check he wrote me, and after promising to get back with me by the end of last week, then again by the end of the weekend, he has disappeared on me, will not return my emails, etc. He owes me with bank charges, and bad/missing checks for animals around $2,300.00. Anybody dealing with him watch out, this may be a good guy going bad. Allen if you are reading this, please get back to me. I really dont want to have to pursue legal actions, I have given you multiple cash/trade options to clear this up with me.

I also had problems with Allen. I met him 45 mins drive from my house and exchanged 14 baby dragons I had and he gave me a check...of course it was a bad check. He told us to tear up the chck and he was sending out a new one. We never got a new check from him but we tried to put through the old check again (we didn't rip it up...he he) and I guess he had enough funds cuz it cleared that time.

Mike, i told you last week that there might be a problem with the check. If i was trying to pull a scam on you would i warn you and keep the line of communication open so we could work it out. I think you are jumping the guy here with this post and with the amount of business we have done it is not a smart business move. I also told you i was going to be out of town with very limited internet access. I never heard back from you and did not know the bank was returning the check until i was out of town. Hopefully we can just resolve the issue without taking it further here. I waited months and months for credit from bad animals you sent me in the mail with no response and no tracking number. I never came here and posted badly about you. In response to the beardeds that i purchased in the following post, why would i send you a new check when you redeposited the original one and it cleared my bank, did you want to get paid twice?

you told me that you had allready sent the second check at the time that I contacted you and being that I had to contact you about the bad check in the first place, I did not want to take the chance that you would not send a new check so I held on to the original for over a week before I redeposited it. I am glad I did not destroy the first check as you asked but instead redeposited.
Don't you think you should be addressing the question of why you gave me a bad check in the first place and why after you said you had allready sent a replacement did I not receive any? I was not hoping to get paid twice I was hedging the correct guess that you were not going to make good on your promise and you proved me right.

Dale, customers bounce checks on me and sometimes they cause my checks to bounce, it is a difficult situation but one that happens, i think it is not good and do not write checks that i don't intend to pay or checks there isn't money to cover. I am not a scammer out there looking to burn people, but sometimes things happen. The bottom line is you got paid which proves i was not trying to burn you. Why the replacement check didn't get mailed, i am not sure but if i said i was mailing it i intended to

Kind of lame to blame someone else because you don't have money to make your check good.

He is not a scammer. Have you ever delt with Allen, Mutt? I have and will again.
 
I think people need to be more positive that they have been scammed before posting things like this!
 
I have had many positive dealings with Allen. Both large and small transactions. Allen has always been professional and very helpful. He is a good guy in my book. Allen is not a scammer and doesn't deserve to be called one....
 
I have had dealings with Allen before with several decent sized shipments .I had some problems on my end with weather(Seoul Korea freezes in January...not good) and there were some problems on his end(monetarily)but we stood in contact and worked things out .I would not call him a scammer .Not in the slightest .Sometimes communication is all that's needed,and usually that's what is missing .I can't speak on any bounced checks,as the ones he sent me all cleared .Marcus Quesada,A.F. Wow Mutt, you really are quick to jump and bash someone. :deadhorse Maybe you should get used to the place a little more before you start posting things like that. :rolleyes: I vendor at a handful of expos and every one i sell at, so does Allen. Allen has a very healthy slection of animals, as I know since I've bought numerous animals from him throughout the shows. Whether it be colubirds, turtles, breeder dragons, chameleons, and more to name...I have AlWAYS walked away from the transaction pleased with what I picked up, as everything was always in top health. I also know Allen isn't close to the scamming type of guy, maybe he has been scammed in the past, but he is not out to pull scams and if any situation went wrong I am sure he would make good on it as he is a good guy in my book as well.

paid twice?

Allen, You are right, I do appreciate doing business with you, and I do give you credit for for being patient on me to repace those chams that got delayed in the mail and some died. But after waiting on a check for over a month and it getting lost in the mail twice.. When this other check bounced, on top of me still waiting for the first it really put me in a bind, I will check with my bank on monday and see if this one cleared, they said they would try to put it through again. If it did, thank you.. But I still never got the other check in the mail, and that one is still owed. I am sorry for posting, your email said you would try to get this taken care of before the weekend, and I didnt hear back from you, then the check bounced and I could not get ahold of you. I think you are a good guy, and this is just a series of unfortunate events, You didnt respond to me until right after I posted, or else I wouldnt have in the first place. But I pray that the check went back though my bank and cleared, when it bounced I was not expecting it and it threw me into the negative. When you get back into town let me know, I have some pretty cool stuff that you will probably want..
 
I have dealt with Allen many times. Always paid and never had a problem. BTW I will have you some mex blacks shortly.

Same problem here

I sold Allen $400.00 worth of baby Bearded Dragons on October 22, 2007. My foolish mistakes where to send him the dragons without payment because he said he had been "burnt by breeders too many times and no longer had a Pay Pal account". Promise after promise was made that a check had been sent. He then said the check had been lost in paper work and he found it and had sent it. Then the check never got here so he said he would Fed Ex another one. Then it was he did not have time to Fed Ex it so he had sent it threw the mail. Then he tried to pass it off that my business partner had gave him the wrong address. At last a check arrived with the promise that the check was good and not to listen to anything Mike had posted here on Fauna that it was a bunch of lies. Well sure enough my bank contacted me today to let me know the check was no good. And as normal I can not get Allen to answer any of my phone calls.
For those of you who flamed Mike and said that Allen was a good guy....well I have the proof. I would be happy to forward all the emails that have went back and forth. I will even scan the check and the letter from the bank as soon as I get it here. If Mike was at fault for all his problems then will some tell me what I done wrong to be delt this dirty hand.
Oh and just for the records Fed Ex informed me there was no one there to sign for my babies so they where left at the front door. I paniced and spent hours trying to get a hold of Allen to make sure they where okay (Thank God I placed many heat packs in with them). He finaly got back with me and said that they where "all alive, in their tanks eating greens and crickets". He was pleased with them so there was NO REASON FOR HIM NOT TO SEND MY MONEY OR TO SEND ME A BAD CHECK.

i sent him 41 dragons on the 12th its now the 23rd. i spoke with him the day they arrived, actually his wife. said all the dragons were nice and healthy. i even threw in a nice leopard gecko for free. anyway all my phone calls were promptly answered before the dragons were sent. now that they have arrived my phonecalls suddenly dont get answered. the last thing he said to me was im mailing a check. so i guess if and when i get a check it will be bad or filled out wrong. i suggest you make this right allen im not one you want to deal with in these matters i promise you that. this is why so many hobbyest are disgusted . vendors who give you the run around like allen.

Actually I defended Alan as well. I had many good dealings with him. The way things look at this time I will retract my statement. I no longer deal with Alan and haven't in quite sometime. I hope your problem gets resolved quickly..
 
it seems years ago he was a decent guy to deal with. but theres nothing good recently said about the guy. its to bad . some good people start out that way and get temted by the dark side. :shrug01:
