    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Hi there. I have tried for several years as a user of this site to help people who have needed help in this forum and on the BOI. I wanted to post a notice for all of you that this year, when my paid membership runs out and my paid sponsorship of this forum runs out that I will not be using this site any longer. I will take my classifieds to kingsnake and I will go back to taking any calls and emails from people that need help with any animals I am qualified to help with. I am still breeding and selling many species of animals but am no longer willing to sponsor what I feel has become an unmoderated site where people launch personal attacks with the attempt to cause harm to business and income of others based on nothing factual but rather just mean spirited garbage. I don't need and don't have time for it.

I would like to thank you all for reading my posts and buying my animals as those apply. Anyone who would like to ever purchase anything or contact me for any other reason, my info is here for you:

With the founder of the site not caring what is said and done here and with so many people refusing to post their bad experiences for fear of attack and humiliation I can now see this site has lost it's way and is not serving the purpose it was created for. It is now just filled with attacks on people by the same small group in almost every thread. Until it ends, people will keep leaving this site and with the loss of the money and traffic eventually it will end when Rich pulls the plug.

I hope that users of this site will start a conversation about the site itself to try to get it back on course but I have not seen anyone try.

I understand your frustration with the way people conduct themselves, but that is going to happen anywhere you go. Forums, shows, your place of work, your local bar.... it dont matter. It is more a reflection of society than any particular forum.

While it is your choice to walk away, and I cant say that I have not felt the same way at times, just know that your contributions have been appreciated. Even if you are sometimes like the old cranky guy on the corner who keeps the kids' balls that go into his yard. :)

I have to say I agree with your statement. It makes it that much harder to ask for help or to post a comment without being torn to shreds... I'm sorry to hear that you are leaving, but I'm sure you are going to be on some other forum and we will meet again. Best of luck...
 
Thanks Sammy I really do appreciate that but unfortunately the stuff is really starting to piss me off and I am just not willing to force myself to deal with these people anymore. They could never get away with bullshit like that in public, in person, on kingsnake or very many other places I can think of. They would get beat down if they tried to treat people like that in person and that is why they do it online. Kingsnake would remove them from the site for it as well. So they do it here.
 
Evan, when it is causing you stress and you are not enjoying the time here, it is time to step back. I wish everyone would only behave as if they are in person, but unfortunately all over the web people take advantage of the fact that I am not there to whack the back of their head for being rude and antagonistic.
I hope that I can run into you on other sites, and maybe one day you'll be back here too.
The only reason I don't use Kingsnake is that the site is not as easy to use. I like the easy stuff, since I only have x amount of time to spare for the internet.

I really liked this site when I first found it.And I would like to remain as a regular.But with the unsupervised Forums it has become a joke to all that I have spoken to.And, I for one, feel let down.I love Pythons.And this site and its adds are the reason for me getting back into keeping them after a 10yr absence.But this place is becoming a terrible joke because of the ones that get on here and act like an :censored:.I find it hard to have any respect for this site AND the ones who supposedly monitor it. If this site is going to succeed,and I would love for it too,they are going to have to start being accountable for the garbage that is being left on here.But I do'nt see it happening. :(

we will miss ya, hope that it will get better someday. I really can't beleive some of the crap that has been going on lately. There are too many people who need whacked over the back of the head. the other problem i have with kingsnake is they just don't seem to allow business inquiries period, which is really agitating. however, you are one person i would not need to look up because you have been getting great reviews from the majority of sane people, I will be sure to look you up when i need something.

I want to clarify one thing, one of the wonderful people posting on a thread about me on the boi made a comment that I was writing this thread to urge people to change this site. Let me be as clear as is humanly possible for those who just have to interpret a simple statement to mean something it does not.

I meant only and exactly what I said. I am not asking anyone to do or say anything to anyone about anything. I do not now and will not care if the site changes in any way at any time. The damage has been done and cannot be undone. The things being said about me and the fashion in which they have been posted is unacceptable to me and why would I pay to support a site that allows that to go on? It makes no sense. This is not any form of protest or appeal to anyone for anything. This is me telling people in advance I am leaving and giving them my contact info in case they would like to save it for future reference. Simple. So to those who want to find something that isn't there, you can stop now. Thanks

Oh Evan, you know as well as I do that the super sleuth Barney Fife's of Fauna are never going stop. Once they get bored with you they will move on to someone else.

I personally just write them off for the twits that they are and put them on my pay no mind list. Who they are and what they think mean absolutely nothing to me. In a way it is sad that this crap goes on, but in another way I am glad that Rich allows it because it lets people show their true colors.

This is a no win situation. The site was monitored carefully, which took quite a bit if time and effort. But you would get a group that would put their toe just across the line, just to see whether something would be done about the toe and not the whole foot. And either way, had something to say about it. Loudly, frequently and at length.

And let's not forget the disheartening effect of recent events that I need not recapitulate on the morale of those who did want a good site here, with people who would be kind and good and decent to one another and help one another in the hobby.
Yes, those ones, whether here or in other sites, that take their pleasure in destruction and drama rather than building the hobby, have left an indelible mark.

I still appreciate all those good people everywhere who take their time to help, to answer questions, to advance the hobby for those in it, and help bring new reptile enthusiasts to share their questions and have a good beginning.
 
Since this thread obviously has nothing at all to do with ball pythons, it was moved from that discussion forum to the Feedback forum, where it is more appropriate.
 
It has everything to do with ball pythons since I have paid to sponsor that forum for two years and post on no other discussion forum on the site and talk to nobody on the site outside of the ball python forum. My post was directed at the people on the that forum and I made that quite clear.
 
Almost by definition, the only egocentric narcissism that is acceptible is that produced by the individual giving their perspective.

Someone wrote a bad guy thread about Evan. He responded as anyone who knows his character would predict. Things exploded, as conflicts often will. I can't say this for certain, but I'd wager he probably wrote a few whiney, righteous, self important emails demanding certain user posted content be removed...

And when it wasn't... he's taking his ball and going home. Something he's entitled to do, but that same inability to overcome certain behaviors that seem ingrained in his personality couldn't just let him do it quietly. He had to have his dramatic farewell speech and his grandstanding criticism of how anything which doesn't comply with his views and opinions is wrong or somehow broken. One person called him a crook, a few more called his behavior juvenile and agressive- so the only conclusion that can possibly be drawn is that the system malfunctioning. Couldn't possibly be a result of people watching him behave like an ass over the course of serveral years on a regular basis who decided to comment as an honestly opinionated cointerpoint to the (seemingly prompted and somewhat hollow) commendations and praises from some members of his customer base.
 
Oh Seamus, you could not be more wrong. I am simply no longer going to pay for you to insult me. It's that simple. For a couple years I have paid to sponsor a forum and pay to keep this site going. Who in their right mind would pay to keep something going that is nothing more than a giant pain in the ass? Even Rich Z has said he wanted to walk away and was tired of all the bullshit. Doesn't that speak to the situation? So I come back to this forum that I felt strongly enough to pay to support and took my time to try to help some people with questions they have and in a very nice way, state I am no longer willing to pay for this and that I am leaving but I amstill willing to help. Some people I like so I wanted to assure them they could feel free to come to me for help. If you want to bash me on that BOI thread go right ahead, but in this thread you are dead wrong and your bullshit does not belong here. In fact if this site had any moderation at all you would get the little warning points for your attacks and off topic posts. But oh well, I will keep racking them up for profanity on my way out.

I have not asked for any content to be removed, ask the moderators, as I don't care. This site has become one big dead horse and you and the other trolls can keep beating it with a stick all you want. The dozens of emails I get every time this happens from people I both do and don't know laughing at this site and how few people now use it reinforces my decision.

No matter what your opinion of me, based on never meeting me, never doing business with me and now stating that people who have had good transactions with me are for some reason lying? Or have been put up to it? That is just more bullshit from you and you should be ashamed of yourself for dropping to the level of those toads saying it. Insult me all you want, I could give a flying crap. BUT, all of the people who have posted good things about me and come to my defense are just that, good people that I have been very pleased to have dealt with.

It is ignorant and arrogant of you to jump in here and state garbage insults and opinions as facts like all the other toads. I have been in this business a long time, dealt with a lot of people, done a lot of shows, dealt with a lot of pet shops and still have plenty of happy customers. I have gotten plenty them on this very site. I have been using this site nearly 4 1/2 years and have sold many animals to people using this site. So you would just make a blanket statement that they are all liars or somehow just throwing fake praise on this site for me? Come now little fella. I don't have that kind of power over people. They do what they want. If you bothered to notice many of my positive comments and trader ratings are from pretty well known people on this site. Your little conspiracy theories are just your paronoia.

If I have posted things you did not like or aggree with in the past that is fine, you took plenty of cheap shots at me and you know it. This post however was a genuine offer from me to keep in touch with the good people on this forum. I am not asking for anything. I am not whining about anything. I am just walking away because I have passed the line I am willing to go beyond. It has nothing to do with one thread. It has everything to do with almost 5 years of dealing with selfish, childish fools. Even when I get a 100 or more people that use this site willing to post that they were happy with my animals and service, I am attacked over it, with the integrity of those people being questioned and idiots saying I initiated threads or the replies are disingenuous. It just sucks. So I leave. You should start looking for another target soon. Good luck in your future. Soon the BOI will be down to a handful of self righteous, self serving, liars and cheap shot artists who do nothing but sit behind their computer and attack others. Then what will you do with each other?
 
You'll have to admit Evan that your timing is a little suspicious. I have always enjoyed your posts and thought that they were well thought out, and informative. But for you to start this thread after you took a little heat on a BOI thread appears to be just a Seamus said.

I don't visit the ball python forum very often but I suspect that things over there are pretty much the same as when you agreed to be a sponsor. The BOI is only one forum here and there are many fauna members that never post and possibly never visit.
 
What is suspicious? I told you I have been growing more and more upset with the site and now I am leaving. I have been pissed off with several threads lately attacking good people that don't deserve it and defending people who are crap. I'm not allowed to do what I want when I want? I very clearly said, I will no longer pay for people to shit on me (quick Rich another warning for profanity!!!). What part of that do you not get? This was just another nail in the coffin and now I want no more part of it. Why is that a problem for you, for Seamus, or for anyone else?
 
Screw'em Evan. They are a huge waste of time.They will always be on this site because the moderators do'nt have the balls to control ANYTHING.It is strange how other sites have accountability and morals but these mod's do'nt have time and are afraid to loose a couple of bucks. THis site is going down the drain and that is a shame because there are a lot of good people.But the a-holes are allowed to control EVERY THREAD they post in. Evan, you are like one big red button, as I mentioned to Seamus above, and you simply cannot go quietly anywhere.

I like your snakes, would even have bought from you when we talked about it had things worked out differently for me at that time so it's not like I'm gunnin' for ya.

But, as has been mentioned, you really do seem like you're scouring the sandbox making sure none of your toys are left and if they are left, you're making sure to poo all over them so no one else will use them, ie the ball forum.

You're a hothead and really easy to irritate. I can't say I'll miss you, but I may notice your absence, that's something anyway.
 
Evan maybe I missed something but I looked around the BP forum and didn't see post where anyone was giving you a bad time ? Seems to be the opposite in that forum.

If you want to leave you will be missed on the BP forum but it is the BOI that you've had your trouble with not the BP forum . You'll be missed but don't trip over Tatoo ah I mean Justin on your way out. Randy
