    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Im all bent up.One of my 2 leo's that i first hatched is on it's last string.I feel horrible and can barely watch him strugle to even walk.I dont know what happened to him.He started loosing weight a while back.I tried feeding him baby food and even appetie stimulizers.Nothing seemed to work.I offered him food somtimes but he never ate it.And i feel guilty for the times i didnt have food avaible for him.I know im probably just being over sensitive but its hard to stomach. All he looks like is skin and bones now and i can barely bare to go in and look at him, its so very grusome.Ill be alright, just maybe wanted the confidence from some of you great peeps here at fauna.

That is a real bummer Dave. Have you taken him to the vet? It almost sounds like he may have a substrate impaction.

I don't think you're being over sensitive. I absolutely love my scaley friends, and would be heartbroken if something were to happen to one of them.

Just keep doing what you can for the little guy, but he may have a defect that's not allowing him to digest properly. If you have loose substrate (like sand) he may very well be impacted.

Make sure everything in the set-up is correct, and don't give up! I've seen leos bounce back from horrible conditions where you would think there is no hope.

I never had him on anything other than papertowels. And there is heat from an undertank heat pad and water and i offer mealies every so often and he has plenty of hides and even a humid hide.I dont know what else i can do.I never took him to the vet but there isnt a vet around here that specializes in reptiles that i can find.

I would try Marcia's Slurry, I have heard about people using it and bringing leos back from deaths door to amazing health.

And leave the mealies in at all times and make sure they are well gutloaded, if the mealies are not gutloaded they are eating the shell with no nutrition and that can cause impaction as well. Dust the mealies too, I use reptivite once a month, herptivite weekly and calcium & mineral 0 daily.

Keep your chin up, you are doing all you can and its hard when they do not do well for us.

This is the slurry recipe located at post:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showpost.php?p=264013&postcount=3

In a blender, combine:
1 small can Hill's A/D pet food (available at most vets)
1/4-1/3 cup Ensure (not chocolate)
1 jar baby food squash
1/4-1/3 cup Pedialite
2 tablets or contents of 2 capsules milk thistle (herbal supplement, liver purifier, found at most drug stores.)
1/2 tsp. each calcium powder and herp vitamin powder
1 large handful of mealworms, added slowly while mixture is blending

Puree all ingredients until completely smooth, and pour into ice cube tray(s) and freeze. Store cubes in zip-lock bag in the freezer until ready to use, then thaw out 1 cube at a time and store in fridge for 2-3 days. I use the empty baby food jar for this purpose, washing it thoroughly after each batch.

Using this mixture, draw a full dropper (eye dropper type) and place a drop on the gecko's nose. It will lick it off, and as it does, slowly squeeze out a little at a time. Most geckos love this food, and will lap it up. Feed them as much as they will take a couple of times a day.

*Lately, I have been adding about 1 tsp. T-Rex Gargoyle MRP to each new thawed out cube.

**Don't tell anyone you put worrms in the household blender!

Aww...don't worry Dave, your not being over sensitive, it just shows you care for your gecko is all....its okay.

I really think you should take him to local vet, I really hope they dont put him down though. You have my sympathy, good luck with him.

Thank you very much britt, and everyone else.Ill see if i can run out today and get all the stuff for the slurry recipe but previously ive had a hard time getting him to lick things off his nose but wish me luck.

Your Welcome (can't believe someone called me what I actually go by :hehe: ) Good Luck with the Slurry, I hope he takes it.

haha im glad i got it right. And i made the slurry and have fed him about 4 times so far.The first three i was putting it on his nose and he hesitantly licked it off..after i saw this wasent working efficently enough i got serious.I gently squeezed on the sides of his mouth to get his jaw to open.In doing this i realized it makes him very angry and to where he fully opens his whole mouth as wide as he can to try and bite me.It stays like this for about 10 seconds, or enough for me to get some slurry in.This is much more efficent and i am VERY careful when doing this.I only work very gently with him and hold him horizontal so he dosent choke.I also added a little water to it to make it more luquid like..now it is just like a little bitthicker version of water for more secure swallowing. Thanks again for the help and ill keep you guys posted.

Well at least your making a little progress with him it seems like, better than nothing. ^-^

Im sorry to say this leo has sadly passes away:/.But however it was probably for the best.I was actually at the time debating wether to keep feeding it because i was only prolonging her suffering.Welp, you know what they say..some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Thanks everyone for the support anyhow.

Sorry for your loss. It sounds like you did everything possible to save it. Sometimes its just not meant to be. Good luck in the future..

Jamie

*Hugs Dave* You did all you could, Dave...and thats what matters is that you tried to save his/her life. But Maybe this was for the best...no longer will he or she have to suffer. I'm sorry for your loss. :(
