    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Sterilite 50 Gallon

    I have an enclosure I built out of a 50 gallon Rubbermaid that I use when I'm rehabbing Box Turtles. I like the size, but you can't really see in them. I saw the Sterilite version at Wal-Mart a while back and knew immediately what I was going to do. Well I spent this week hashing out the...

    Finding a Herp Vet

    I've been reading through a lot of these threads this afternoon and I keep seeing a lot of the same thing...people asking for help in finding a herp vet in their area. The internet is a great resource for being able to find one near you and I though I'd save some time by posting a few links to...

    Yellow-bellied Racer

    Pretty stoked when a friend text me earlier today. His mother-in-law's cat brought her a small snake and he wanted to know what kind it was. The fuzzy cell phone pic initially had me thinking Kingsnake or maybe a juvenile Black Rat, but the patterning was off. So I stopped by this afternoon...

    Escape

    Well it was bound to happen and I guess I'm due. While checking cages to see who needed to be fed/cleaned today I discovered that one of the babies was not where she was supposed to be :NoNo:. Which means I've got a whole lot of house to scour :(. If I can't find her I guess I'll have to set...

    Advice on Cypress Mulch

    I've been keeping Ball Pythons for a few years now and have never experienced any shed issues. You can probably guess where this is going...:yesnod:...I'm now having shed issues. My male pastel had some minor issues a few weeks ago and two days ago one of my female normals had her's come off...

    Knoblochi Advice

    Couple of weeks ago I picked up a L. p. knoblochi. The guy I got it from had gotten it in a trade and didn't know gender or age. I've been fond of mountain kings for a while and the price was right so I couldn't resist. Turns out to be a female when probed. She's a great eater on f/t and I...

    Finally

    I got a Kenyan Sand Boa about 4 months ago. When I got her the guy said she ate 2 live mice a week, she'd been feeding on live mice since she was a hatchling. One of my big things is that my snakes feed on frozen thawed. Sure I have some picky snakes (the freakin' Balls) and from time to time...

    New Additions

    Took some time while cleaning today to snap pics of the new additions. Thought I'd show them off: Butter Corn Unknown Corn (was brought to the clinic I work at by the local Humane Society), thoughts? Tarahumara Mountain Kingsnake Russian Tortoise (anniversary gift for the wife)

    Hydrometer Accuracy

    Just curious whether or not anyone calibrates their hydrometers before using them? I took forgranted that the hydrometers I'd been using all these years were just accurate out of the package. A while back a friend got me interested in cigars and when I got my first humidor I tested my...

    Imperial Moth Eggs

    One of my co-workers found an Imperial Moth (Eacles imperialis) at work today. I put her in a box and took her home intending to take some pics before turning her loose. Well, while in the box she decided to lay some eggs! This has me kind of excited as these are some truely beautiful moths...

    My Weekend Project

    I like DIY projects and have been needing to do something different with my growing collection. Here is a pic of how the snakes were housed before: As you can see things are a little unorganized. Plus this shelf measures 3' wide x 2' deep. I house most of my snakes in 41 qt Sterilite tubs...

    Hello

    Hello everyone, I joined earlier this month and have been checking things out since. I spend a lot of time on Kingsnake.com "window shopping", but have been looking for someplace new to hang out. Long time lover of the scaly creatures and pretty much any other creepy crawly. Been keeping...

    Wanted CB Russian Tortoise

    Wife has been wanting a Russian Tortoise for a while now. Would really like to get her one for an anniversary gift (not until August, but nothing says I love you like an early gift). Have been looking on Kingsnake.com and here for a young CB specimen, but seems everyone has older wild caught...
