    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Interested in making a list?

An idea hit me for a new thread I figured would not only be informative but a lot of fun. I wanna list all the different species with different pictures showing there particular traits and differences. I am not big into locality yet, so I don't have any good pictures of my own snakes, so I...

    Boa Hydration

A good friend of mine has been asking for my advice on boa hydration, I have given him what info I know but thought it might be best to get others involved. When dealing with a dehydrated boa, especially when they are not eating, I have always added pedialite to there water, even going as far...

Can I have your heating and substrate opinions?

My first question is concerning my heat source, which I will explain my setup to help everyone get a grasp of what I am dealing with. The room my snakes are in is normally heated to 78 degrees, although this winter its been difficult to keep it there, so I would say its averaging 72 degrees. I...

    Helix DBS-1000 Trouble shooting

My old trusty DBS-1000 is having some problems and I have had no luck with the company I purchased it through or Helix. Basically, the thermostat worked fine out of the box, but always gave me a code E8, after some different test, the gentleman at Helix told me I needed a new probe. Since the...

    My newest build.

I don't have any good quality pictures uploaded yet, but I do have some crappy cell pics for you to enjoy! I am building 2 different cages at the same time. One cage will be a stack of 4 cages with a 3 level rack system on bottom. There is a space at the bottom to accommodate the wheels...

    Providing heat to boas

Can you ONLY provide ambient heating to a boa? What are the pro's and con's of heating a room to 80-85 and having no hot post. How do you heat your boas? What are the different methods you have tried? Why are you using what you currently have now? Does price effect what product you use...

What is a proper feeding schedule for boas?

I have ran across others discussing this topic and was curious to what everyone's opinions were on a proper feeding schedule? My recommendations are assuming we are all feeding a suitable sized prey item at each feeding. I myself am actually in the process of changing my feeding schedules...

    Can the BOI be improved?

It seems to me that it would take some of the hassle out of the BOI if it was required to post atleast some proof when posting a Bad Guy thread. Do you agree? How many times has someone posted a "Bad Guy" thread and no proof was posted? How many times did the OP get jumped for not providing...

I wanna know about the Jungle.

Ok. So a jungle boa as we know is a incomplete dominant trait, with the "super jungle" being the Homozygous trait. Now from what I see, Jungles can be misleading, as it appears some people may call and aberrant patterned boa a "jungle". But my question is, when breeding a Jungle to a Jungle...

    Field collecting in IL

Found this little guy taking some eggs out of my parents chicken coop. Relocated him and snapped a quick picture. I love black rats. They are the first snake I ever kept in captivity.

    Going for a new build...

Sorry, I know this picture is generic, but I have limited paint/graphic skills on a computer. But I have a new cage in mind. Idea #1) Build a cage system, that has a base, maybe only 6in tall to get them off the ground, then a 6x2x1 cage on bottom for my big girl, then 6 or 7 cages stacked on...

    Natural Chemistry Reptile Relief?

Check this out, http://naturalchemistry.com/pet_care/products1/reptile_spray.html. Sounds like a good "preventive maintenance'' spray. Thoughts? Anyone use this before? I have almost decided to go ahead and get some unless someone changes my mind, lol.

    "Worming" a boa?

My Aunt uses liquid garlic in her dog's water bowl and it prevents all types of worms and fleas. Her vet has since started using it on her dogs because of how well it has worked. My question is, can this be done on snakes? I know how sometimes a certain "natural" substance can be ok for some...

Breeding size of adult female boas

I have been discussing this with a fellow fauna member and we were both interested in your opinions. I have always believed age is more important than size. We both have females that are 4 years or older, and was concerned about there size before breeding them this or next season. I have seen...

    Nova & hypo Nova???

A friend of mine was given a "Nova" hypo boa and I am interested if anyone knows anything about it other than Jeff Ronne? I found some info at this link http://www.redtailboas.com/f18/how-about-little-controversy-39814/ and it looks as if it may be a co-dominant form of a jungle. April you...

Slim is short for slim shady, my 12 year old nephew named him, lol. All I have for now is pictures from when I bought him, he had a long breeding season and is a little skinny so I would like to beef him up a little for new pictures. Great snake to handle, loves to climb around on your...

Anya was also purchased from Bill Bratton. I am not big into Ghost, but I am giving it a try. She is fun to hold, you almost have to tie her in a knot to keep her still! She is a monster eater, never satisfied. I had a really hard time getting new pictures last night, I will add to it as the...
