    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Deformity #2

Now I'm starting to get a little worried. This was the last of his clutch to hatch out on Friday. He only made it about halfway out and then got "stuck". I was leaving for the weekend, so I just left him in the egg container, figuring he would emerge by the time I got back today. He hadn't...

What the heck happened to this guy?

I just found this hatchling tonight. He has much more body mass than any of his siblings (that have hatched so far) and he's all lumpy and contorted. If I try straightening him out at all, he starts flipping around like an earthworm that's been cut in half. The other babies that have come out...

Well Wendy, here's MY omen for the day

Mom was an amel motley. Dad was an anerythristic motley. They were unrelated, and I had no idea they were het for anything, and I was expecting all normal motleys het for snow. The first one out was an anery motley, and I thought, "Cool, mom is het for anery." The second one out was an amel...

Striped Anery Hatchling... with a question Found this little guy to be the first one out when I got home tonight. Not a bad sight to come home to. I got the parents from Stephen Roylance last year.

    Watertown Fire...

I don't know if this made national news or not, but it's certainly been a big deal around SE Wisconsin today. This morning around 10:00 a fire broke out at Watertown Tire Recyclers. This facility is just across a field from my mom's farm, less than 1/4 mile away. There has been a long-time...

    My website (finally)

If anyone's interested I have finally gotten my site put together enough for you to bother looking at! :raspberry I still need to construct the bp, corn, and rats pages, but I'm waiting until I can borrow my friend's camera for photos (mine doesn't like me). I do have a list of what I expect...

    Update on Petey

Here's a few pictures I just took of 'Petey', the high yellow male I got from Dan @ Manhattan Herps through the auctions. I had to wake him up to take his picture, and he decided he was hungry, lol. He's also about to shed, so he's not quite as bright as he was when he arrived. Thanks very...

Weekend pics - Western Painted Turtles, etc.

Here's a few pics I took this weekend up at our cabin. I know they're not herps, but every year the Loons up there have babies, and this is the closest I've ever gotten to them. Once the fireworks started, I think the only animals that hadn't gone into hiding were the mosquitos. :>poke2<:

    Truce?

Before anyone starts a poll as to whether or not I should be committed, please hear me out on this one... I think some people may have said [posted] some things in the past week that they did not entirely mean. I do not want to discredit any opinions and concerns that have been said, but I do...

    What's on YOUR refrigerator?

Okay, so I was just a wondering what everyone else has on the outside of their refrigerator. The 15 options are ones that I guessed would be the most common, but if 'other' applies, please do tell! Feel free to post pictures too. :hehe:

What constitutes "bona fide research and educational purposes?"

I've been wondering about this for a while now, and my searches here haven't turned anything up. I know the law for turtles under 4" is that they are for research and educational purposes, but what exactly does it take for that to apply? I was at a show/swap recently, and noticed that vendors...

Strangest thing this year so far...

... well, at least in MY snake room... Okay, to completely understand this one, I have to start way back at the beginning. Last year I purchased several proven breeder corn snakes from the Roylances, not too long before the hurricanes. Among them was a trio of snow corns. They had already...

    New Icons/Smilies

I've been wondering if it's possible to add any smiley icons. I have a few in mind that I think might be entertaining/useful, but I have no idea if it's at all possible to add such things to the smilies menu. They'd have to be created of course, but I don't really know much about instant...

Since when is 'milk chocolate' purple??

Okay, so this is one of the many parts of my house that I've painted in the last week or so now that the remodelers are done. This was one of 3 or 4 choices I had picked out because I thought they looked good... at least on the little chip-thing. The girl at the paint desk convinced me to go...

    Petco, PETA Call a Truce

Okay, I read this in the latest PPN and I'm going to retype it really fast, so I apologize in advance if I mess something up, but given recent discussions on both PETA and Petco, I thought some of you might find it interesting. New Fat Taileds from Garrick DeMeyer

I actually posted this pic on the BOI, but I wanted to post it here too. I just picked up 8 fat tail geckos from Garrick today. Here's a pic of one of the females. I would post a few pics of the others too, but I stink at using a digital camera, and this one turned out the best. (I usually...

    Cute Widdle Wabbits

Maybe you've seen this before, but I just got it today, and thought it was kinda funny... :hehe: A precious little girl walks into a pet shop and asks, in the sweetest little lisp, between two missing teeth, "Excuthe me, mithter, do you keep widdle wabbits?" As the shopkeeper's heart...
