    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Head shake- Mexican Black King ?

    I'm new to owning colubrids, gorgeous all of them. I do own boas and pythons. I acquired an adult male Mexican Black King today. Impressively docile/calm, he shed today, no issue. When he was resting on my lap OR in his brand new tank at times. I noticed he sort of shakes his head slightly...

    I was just reading the Reptiles 2013 issue on 15 Amazing Boa Morphs..Great cover....ANYWAY, in the article the writer Jeremy Stone wrote that's unlikely to find boas over 10 ft in captivity. That males are usually 4 ft and females 6ft WHEN did this happen?? I have a Hog Island Boa, and part of...

    Amazon Basins - High white?

    I'm interested in Amazon Basin ETBs. I may get one at some point after my research. I think that locality is just gorgeous with the white. I've seen/heard people producing "high white" animals. Are these high white animals just genetic variation, or done via selective breeding? I've seen such...

    Kingsnakes vs Milksnakes ??

    I'm not a Colubrid owner, just an admirer. I always thought milksnakes were a different genus of kingsnake, but they aren't. Given that, how/why are they called milksnakes at all, if they are kingsnakes??? I'm confused haha:rolleyes_

    Woma owners-- Advice ?? (the real Woma, not BP morph hah)

    I have a nice young Woma I picked up from a breeder in Jan. He's doing quite nicely, and is about 20-24" long. He's a good eater on hoppers now. When I feed him I've noticed that he seizes the prey (prekilled by me) with his mouth and doesn't bother to constrict. Now if I pull the tail a bit...

    ID this Mutant Kingsnake ?

    A friend of mine has this king. I'm not a king expert at all. I'd like to know what mutation/s this snake has, and what generates it. For example, if it's a lavender albino, what does the lavender part mean? It certainly is an albino, but I can't determine what type of normal king snake pattern...

    Light Canopy for this 10gallon screen top???

    I have this Pet Select 10 gallon screen top Screen top, it works great, but I was wondering if anyone knew of a light set up which would fit inside the length of the top?? There's a little plastic lip around the screened rectangle, so it's made for this purpose. I just don't know if there is...

    Radiant Heat Panel Use/Size for 20gal Long Critter Keeper?

    I recently moved and the apartment I live in now is a bit cooler than I'd like. I have a 20gal long Critter Keeper with screen top on a stand with a wooden canopy above. I have a UltraTherm under the tank heater which keeps the ambient temps inside to about 80-84 (depending on the ambient temp...

    Light for Nocturnal Observation??

    I thought field collecting would be the right forum for this. I have some nocturnal species, both herps, and tarantulas. Some of my T's are particularly sensitive to white light at night. I wanted to see what people use for observing nocturnal creatures. The best I have found would be this...

    Scales Came off on Hogg..what to do?

    I'll post a pic as soon as I get them. My Hogg is has a GREAT feeding response. I was feeding her about a month ago, and as I was covering her home w/a blanket so she wouldn't be likely to strike (no movement etc) She struck the glass twice. I looked at her quickly and she was fine. About a...

    Boa Behavior/New Cage?

    I have a 4ft Hogg Island Boa. She's wonderful. I have a question for all B.c.i and B.c.c. owners regarding behavior. I read a recent article about how a new cage, one more similar to the animal's environment can often bring about new and more natural behavior. Now, we all know that boas can...

    HELP: Misaligned Jaw after feeding!

    I was feeding my beautiful Hogg Island boa on Sunday. She's totally docile out of any container, active etc. But in a feeding container or tank she knows when there's food, and she has a lightning fast response. Her feeding response lasts for more than a day usually too. I typically put a...

    Greg Maxwell Retired?

    I thought I would post this here. I haven't checked on Greg Maxwell's web site for green tree pythons. However, it seems he has retired from breeding and sold everything. Does anyone know why he decided to get out of it after all these years? I'm totally bumbed out, as I'd hope to get one his...
