    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Lazy or wanting to brumate?

    My beardie is 1 year old, he has been a lot less active for the past 3 months. I had to take him out of bed every morning, otherwise he'll just stay in the same spot till noon or even later. He is awake as soon as the light is on though, just doesn't want to move his lazy butt. So, I'm used to...

    Please help identify this parasite

    I have leopard geckos. I did the fecals myself and when I noticed that they had parasites, I took some pics and showed them to my vet. There were 2 types of oocysts found in the fecal, one was a standard pinworm egg and the other one (as shown in the pics below) can't be identified. I was given...

    Just some pics...

    Here is SiuFu, he is one curious gecko that decided that the most comfortable position to sleep is to stick his leg out. Now I get to look at his foot everyday, lol.

    Number of heating mat per thermostat?

    I need to add heating for 3 glass tanks, each 16.5" wide, placed side by side each other. With one thermostat, shall I use one long heating mat (48" long) or 3 smaller ones? Which one do you think will work better? Or safer?

    Uneaten bugs

    Just curious, how does everyone "treat" the leftover bugs? I'll start: Mealworms - if escaped from food bowl, I'll throw them out. If they remained in the food bowl, I'll recycle them to the mealworm bin. Supers and crickets - cut off their heads with cuticle scissors before putting them in the...

    "The leg" and some random pics

    Don't you just love it when they stick out their 'sexy' leg like this (although I said sexy leg, but its a male's leg that you're looking at: Here is my new sink area, roaches and worms below. The previous sink area was made too low, and my back hurts even if I work there for 15 minutes...

    At least one of my gecko will eat roaches

    My dubia colony just started to flourish, I collected about a couple hundred babies last month and kept them in a separate container. I had been staring and casting a "grow faster" spell on these nymphs everynight... I just couldn't wait anymore, I want to try feed off a roach. So I picked a...

    All about POOs...

    What is the best way to preserve the freshness of a fecal sample until it reaches the vet's hand? When I collect a sample (usually at night), I put it in a small zip-lock bag and store in the refrigerator (temp approx. 38F), then I'll take it to the vet's clinic first thing in the morning. The...

    Is the smell of paint harmful to geckos?

    Our home renovation work has been finished, and my geckos and I can go home on Sunday. I wiped everything with wet cloth and let all the windows opened for a few days, but as I walk in the house, I can still smell the paint; not extremely strong, but I can smell it. I think the residue smell can...

    I got roach babies!!! and some questions

    I was cleaning the dubia container today (yeah...it has mites...), and discovered 100+ baby dubias!! cute! And so, I moved the adults to a new container and the babies to a smaller container. Do the babies need the adult's frass to survive? Or can they eat powdered food (cereals, grains and dog...

    Preventing grain mites?

    Is there anything that can be done to prevent an outbreak of grain mites? Will freezing or baking all the grain products prior to use kill the "dormant mites eggs"? I know if everything is kept dry and well ventilated, I won't have these mites problem, but it really is extremely humid over...

    Aquarium sealant

    I will have some newly built glass tanks delivered to me next week, aquarium sealants are used. Do I need to let the tanks air out for 1-2 weeks or can I put my geckos in there right away (after thorough cleaning, of course)? I'm worried about toxic fumes from fresh aquarium sealants? Or are...

    Escaped and found story

    I have a female (Gutlei) escaped last night! Just to refresh everyone's memory, my apartment is under partial renovation, and my geckos and I are still staying at my parent's place. My geckos certainly are not happy with their temporary home, since they used to live in large glass tanks with...
