    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Bad Guy BRIEN KLIEN

Like I said in order to stay under the 20 I would need to turn out 3 today. I did not know there was a 20 turtle limit per year.

Brian

ALL the turtles were caught this year. If you include the 6 I sent her they add up to 23.

I have been catching and releasing turtles for 4+ years. Like I said I assumed ignorantly that "not Illegal in SC" meant just that, I did not know that there was a limit. Now that I know I will respect that.

Since we have itemized my situation let's go add up everyone's collections to make sure that they are following the law! Ridiculous.

She is loving this because it takes away from the fact that she is sour that she feels like she should have gotten more turtles for less leos.

Brian

I have never sold or traded a turtle EVER.
This was my very first transaction and quite frankly it has put a bad taste in my mouth.

I was simply trying to get back into leos and feed my kids until I found a new job.

That's all I wanted to know really. As long as you're saying that in all honesty, which means you're done collecting for the year.
The personal opinions of myself or anyone else concerning commercial collection make little difference when it's done within the confines of what is allowed under state law. Whether anyone else finds it distasteful or not, as long as you aren't breaking the law you're free to do it.

Since we have itemized my situation let's go add up everyone's collections to make sure that they are following the law! Ridiculous.

No, it's not ridiculous. Whether or not you are illegally collecting native wildlife is information entirely relevant to this thread, which happens to be about you. When you make the choice to collect wild herps for commercial purposes, you automatically open yourself to scrutiny if for no other reason than so many dislike the practice.

She is loving this because it takes away from the fact that she is sour that she feels like she should have gotten more turtles for less leos.

While I agree that the entire premise of this thread being started was without merit, it's here now and additional issues raised have been explored.

In the interest of fairness however, I would also ask the OP what is her permit number for the possession of the box turtles?
Wouldn't want to be accused of bias by questioning one party about their legality and not the other.

Well,I will agree that the op did seem mad that she didnt get more out of the deal...The problem is thats what she agreed to..Even if they were WC,they havnt died off on her or nothin,so I dont really know that she can get to mad over that cause she didnt know..If they appear to be healthy, just take it as a lesson to always ask in future purchases if they are CB or WC..Now as far as you saying you will abide by the law, well you also say you were workin when in private you told her you were not..We dont really appriciate lies here...So are you workin or not??...Did you even look into the laws before you just decided to start takin these guys from the wild??...And if you are really trying to save them, why didint you start a petition or somthing to maybe put like a one foot tall fence on the sides of the roads so the turtles could not access the roads...Also,people will be paying attention to your sales now..So I really do suggest you dont sell more then your aloud...

Sounds like sour grapes to me as well. Shelby was fine with the trade and had no complaints until she thought she might have gotten more out of Brian. Then when she discovered that he had acquired his animals with minimal effort and no financial investment, she felt cheated.

The fact of the matter is that she was fine with the original transaction. She got exactly what she wanted for her trade or she wouldn't have been trading in the first place. End of story.

Brian- Just as an FYI... Eastern box turtles are declining over much of their range. They are very susceptible to habitat fragmentation, and road-related mortality. They also suffer from collection as pets. Because they take so long to mature, it is hard for box turtle populations to recover from these pressures. Box turtles also possess a homing instinct. If you find a box turtle on the road, do not take it home with you and release it. A box turtle released away from its home range will often wander until it dies. Rather – if it is safe – move the box turtle to the side of the road.

If you do release some of your turtles, please take them back to where you found them.

I just recieved my turtles from this scammer and wow i would have been posting a bad guy thread about him lying about the quality of his turtles he said i was getting 2.3.1 in perfect condition that was alie i got 1.5 at least thats what it looks like and they are all sub adults like i said before but know its totally confirmed this man is a bad guy stay away from his adds unless you want to be lied to.
Brian klein you are a SCAMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about explaining how you said that 2 or 3 of the leos were virgins and then attacked me and said that you traded me ALL proven leos.

Shelby,

Just out of curiousity, could you please explain this?

Brian,I see where you posted that you were not working before I responded with that question...If you did make the $$ you said you did, you shouldnt be claiming you needed to start breeding animals or taking them from the wild to feed your kids..You should take sushi dragons advice as well...Anything that is taken from the wild is bound to lose numbers and one day become endagered..Allin1,maybe he shouldnt have told you the sex's just to be safe..And granted some of his sob story dont add up $$ wise...But he did send them to you,and the health of them didnt even come up...A scammer will put you on a way more twisted ride then this one...You either wouldnt have gotten them,or they would have shown up dead and the guy would have cut contacts with you...Again,just take this as a learned lesson...Ask questions, and if you want certain sex's,get them to guaruntee the sex's..

I think I am going to barf over the stress.
I sent her exactly what we agreed upon. 2 males 3 females and one juvi that I could not clearly sex.

IraqVet: I said and I am, out of a job. Unfortunately I am not the "saving type" and although I held the position, after all was said and done we still live week to week, it is quite scary and stressful. Maybe I will learn one day.

Funny that you mention that about the 1' fence. I have often day dreamed if that were possible:) and where to start.

Sushidragon: I learn something new everyday and respect your wisdom and advice.
My wife and I both feel that we are through collecting for ever. Although it still breaks our heart to see dead turtles on the road. I am interested in releasing CBB into the wild is that feasible? I am contemplating thinning the remaining 14 down to maybe 1.6 and doing the CBB release thing if it is beneficial to the species.

My wife and I love to sit near the garden and turtle area and watch. One of the proudest and most exciting moments of my life was when one of my females lay eggs right in front of me. It took 3+/- hours and I got the whole thing on tape. I was so pumped with adrenaline running around very very excited to be blessed with witnessing that event. I lay on the ground belly in the grass and dirt videoing, my neighbors must have thought I was nutso.

I am proactively searching for a challenging position and with positive thought and action one will soon be available to me.

Brian

She is so confused. How can they be 1.5 and be subadults? They are all adults full grown 15+ (guesstimate) year old turtles except the .1 which I could not clearly sex.

2 have obvious concave bottoms and 3 have obvious flat bottoms. End of story.

I am going to work in the garden and try to not be obsessed with this obvious greedy, self serving freak show of a thread.

Brian
864-324-1537 Here is my personal cell phone number for the 50th time if anyone feels the need to directly contact me for further grilling.

I dont think anyone is trying to grill you..I dont think this thread is going the OP's way either...She didnt really need to start this thread as I doubt when it started she didnt know the laws either...I dont think you scammed her..What I think is it was a lesson for both sides...If you claim to be able to mate them,go that route..People seem to always be lookin for them...Then they will be in your care and not on the roads..I would double check, but it sounds like breeding and selling more then 20 is ok versus taking more then 20 from the wild...Again,I would double check though...I think the buyer just assumed to much here..

I'm going to assume the OP merely overlooked this question rather than ignored it. However, since she has visited the thread after it was asked does make me more interested in hearing the answer.
For that matter I'd like to see a scanned picture of it.

He would do best not to try to quote the list of species needing a permit since above that it says including but not limited to.

In other words anything not listed as an exempt species needs a permit in the state of NJ. The exempt reptiles are:

3. Reptiles:
i. American Anole - Anolis carolinensis
ii. Common iguana - Iguana iguana
iii. Boa constrictor - Constrictor constrictor
iv. Eastern painted turtles - Chrysemys picta picta
v. Snapping turtles - Chelydra serpentina
vi. Fence lizard - Sceloporus occidentalis & undulatus
vii. Garter snake - Thamnophis spp. (except T. sirtalis Tetrataenia)
viii. Tokay gecko - Gekko gecko
ix. Ribbon snake - Thamnophis spp. (except T. sirtalis Tetrataenia)

Here is a link to the regulations.... http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/permregs.pdf

That is not going to happen. I assure you she is permitless. She can't even take the time to spell properly and use proper grammar.

I have come to the conclusion after reading all of this to my wife and taking her outside opinion on the matters at hand that I am going to thin the collection down. Since I took the responsibility to remove the EBTs from the wild I can not justifiably reintroduce them since it is impossible to put them back in their original areas they will have to be sold to good homes.

That is exactly what I think and why I posed the question again. Someone keeping a species illegally but then has the gall to claim the person she got them from obtained them illegally would speak a lot about her.
And just for clarification in case it's claimed that a permit was going to be obtained later, a quote from the NJ regs.
Except as hereinafter provided, no person shall possess any
nongame species or exotic species of any mammal, bird, reptile or
amphibian unless such person has first received both the
appropriate permit from the Department as listed in N.J.A.C. 7:25-
4.6(a) as well as any other state, municipal, or Federal permits or
licenses which may be required to possess such species.

Of course I wouldn't presume to tell you what to do in this instance, but considering you have 14 in your possession that are from the area in which you live, it would be a great opportunity to establish a breeding colony with them as the founders.
THAT would be an excellent outcome to having taken them from the wild. Boxies are desirable in the trade and the more CBB that can be provided the better it will be for wild populations everywhere.

I agree withyour last statement clay..I thought the same thing...If he has some,he might as well breed them and get the numbers up..And sell some along the way..Maybe to other people who would like to breed them..

Mr. Nolan I wish to express my gratitude to you for guarding our country's freedom, sir.

My wife thinks I am spending too much time on this thread so, I am going to have to check it daily instead of hourly, lol.

I am in the process of creating a 1500+/- sq ft turtle area outside and need to get outside and get my hands dirty, be well everyone.

All in all I must say thank you to Shelby for the awesome Gex even the regen tailed ones are beautiful. I am truly sorry for the misunderstandings on my part.

Thanks too Clay. I thought I was going crazy for a little while there.
I appreciate everyone's input as I have learned a lot in the last 14 hours or so.
I will be checking in later to keep up with developments and provide facts if necessary.

Thanks...But I must apologize as comming off as kinda harsh earlier about your situation..Their are alot of "wet lies" you will hear on here from people..If your $ situation is what it is,then that really sucks..Its happening to lots of people..I usually go on the buyers side cause it seems the sellers are usually the bad guys..In this case it seems the buyer wanted more then she got after the deal was made..As far as the animals sex's and all that well,I aint gonna drive to their location and see lol..But as far as her not wanting WC,well then she should have went somewhere where she knew the people and knew they were CB...She also had one of her friends come on here and start a good guy thread on her versus her comming on this thread and aswering the questions asked of her..Honestly she caused more damage for herself then you..This was a very inmature act on her part..

1st, you've made my "do not sell anything to" list. You started this thread without even having the animals? Are you kidding me?! What if you got perfect condition animals? Hell, we don't even know if there as bad as you say they are. And excuse me for not taking your word on it
