    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

STEEL CITY REPTILE EXPO! September 12, 2009!

LOL--I know--Nuthin else??? That's right, we met on the internets loooong ago!

There will be plenty to make fun of, as will show you my hog and balls very soon!

Many of my corns will still be in the egg, so that will have to wait for the next show.

I called Paul this morning--and guess what?

He and Ben were in Washington PA putting up fliers locally! They were literally canvassing business owners and veterinarians offices to round up some local interest and ask permission to post fliers.

I think it's great that they are working the vendor crowd and the attendee crowd.

It's so much more fun to bust on these guys than to give them props, but it's only fair of me.

Canvassing in Washington... Good call :)

My other half works right across from the fair grounds. I had him put up some fliers at work and a couple of the places they frequent after work :)

I need to check out the website and count up vendors again. No need to get behind with my one job.

Hogs and balls..... :eek::eek:
I think I may be speechless. Might make for some fun pics to post after the show.

I have my tables reserved, but I would MUCH rather see the ladies in their exotic "undergarmets". Kristy, I'll bring the video camera and make a frog girls gone wild video or reptile girls gone wild. lol I can't wait for the show, I hope its overrun with vendors and customers.

I am sure that will be a much better video than Dennis getting his ass beat by a girl :yesnod:

I too am very excited about the show. Being kinda close is nice as well.

I wonder who is going to be doing the " undergarmets" check at the door ?

Kristy, Kristy, Kristy Do you remember the last Pittsburgh show? You came over to bully me around again and I put the snake on your head. You cried like a little girl and ran to your mother. I am bringing the big 35 lb female boa to this show, we'll see how tough you are! I hope both buildings are full. It will be like having a Hamburg show without the 5 hour drive.lol See you there.

That's it a smiley?

Wow you are so slacking.

Dennis I am not sure if I remember that. Well atleast not the way you tell it.
I do recall you making an extremely rude and hurtful comment to me ( and if I had feelings they would have been hurt) and when you did this lovely little snake bit you.

I should have bought him/her right then and there.

I'm happy to see other peeps here in the thread--I don't wanna be a thread hog---it's kinda my style.

I also thought that the Hamburg comment was right on. We all know at least 25 or so vendors that drive from our area to Hamburg.

If they build it, we will come.

And--I have to meet Dennis! If he can get Brad to wear one of his shirts, he must be a pretty good dude.

Can I have a shirt? They're nice.

Hey Look everybody!!

Jim Randolph is getting ready to post here! He's reading now. Please keep it PG-13, Jim.

I heard he has requested a spot near me. I have spot #1 because I was the first person to pay.

Since I only do 1-2 shows a year--this will be my only time in life to get booth #1, so smoke it biotches.

LOL, Brad said it was the one on top. I'm sure we have talked somewhere along the line. p.s. don't be seen in public talking to Kristy, she's bad news and a bully. he he he Talk to you later.
Dennis

Hey Mark , better check with Paul, he told me" Brad" gave him the first check!

Brad did give him the first check---right after I handed Wyble the cash!

Brad even complained that I weaseled in before him because he couldn't fill out the application faster than me.

Paul knows not to mess with me. I was almost in a motorcycle gang.

Almost in a motorcycle gang? Is that like you almost made it to the bathroom in time?

Bully..... not even close.

I want to get there early to snap some shot of people fighting over who gets which table :yesnod: Should be some pretty good beat downs.

Up to 41 vendors now ( i wonder if they update often or if I just can nto count once I get past the fingers and toes)

Is the elusive Paul going to post in the thread anytime soon?

Sorta--only I don't have a motorcycle and I was 10 years old at the time.

The toughest guy was the leader--I think his name was Fonzi. He was a real ladies' man.

There will be no fighting!!

Paul won't post because I give him grammatical grief.

Hill bee feart that ill sea hes spellink nistakes.

Well folks---Paul and Ben received permission to place a banner advertising the show on the entrance gates to the Fairgrounds---so right now, there is a 4' x 12' banner advertising the September 12, 2009 show. They had that printed JUST for this show.

100,000 peeps will walk through those gates this week attending the Washington County Fair.

That sounds like smart advertising to me!

I can't wait! More updates to come!

It sure is smart! It the way Ben was talking, there are more up in heavily populated areas as well! These guys deserve a huge show of support for the hard work they have devoted to this show! Thanks guys!
