    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

In the fall of 06’ I was looking for a male Blood Boa to add to my collection. I already had two but wanted one more. On 12/29/06 Mark Miller of Loco-Lizards and I came to a cash/trade agreement. I shipped Mark one of my 06’ Lipstick line male sunglows, a 4 ft. Coral Albino female and $1,500.00 cash for a trade value of $6,500.00 . He then sent me an 05’ Blood male. Mark had said he was courting one of his females at the time of shipping. I waited about a week and fed him one small rat which he regurgitated. I didn’t think much of it as I had done business with Mark before and trusted his animals. I wrote it off to stress. I waited two weeks and fed him another small rat. He kept it down and I figured all was well. I introduced him into my breeding program as Mark had said he was courting and I needed him as a breeder. That was the entire purpose of acquiring him. He didn’t court, or breed a thing. I was disappointed, but figured at worst I had another male Blood breeder for next year. He was put into my non-breeding room which has a constant ambient temp in the low 80’s along with belly heat. He refused to eat. I figured even though he didn’t breed for me, Mark had said he was courting, so maybe he was still in that non-feeding mode. After 2 ½ months he still hadn’t fed. At this point mark called me for the DOB of the 06’ sunglow. I proceeded to tell him about the Blood male not feeding and starting to look worse. Mark said to keep him posted and not to worry he “would make it right”. I tried everything my 18 years of experience would allow, in addition to calling some other large breeders for advice. In the meantime Mark and I were in contact weekly about the Blood males progress. Too many times to count I was told “not to worry” as he would “make it right”, either replacing this animal or compensating with another of the same value. Unfortunately most of this correspondence was via the telephone. I requested we just reverse the trade but Mark told me that he had moved both of my animals already. A lie as the male sunglow was just received by his new owner yesterday. Mark said to keep him posted, “not to worry”, and we would take it from there. Now the animal was still doing poorly and getting worse. Mark continued to promise me that he would “make it right”, “not to worry”, “I want to keep you as a happy customer”. After continuing to do poorly Mark suggested for me to send the Blood male back to him. I did so as I trusted Mark and he had made all those promises. So on 5/1/07 I shipped the animal back to Mark. So now I am out both of my animals, cash, and the Blood male which I had thought I had added to my collection. Mark and I spoke and he agreed to send me a replacement animal of some sort. We would have to both agree on it. We then agreed on a replacement animal where I would have to send him more animals. I was hesitant to send two more animals to Mark but I figured I at least would have another breeder animal. I was out two possible breeders for this coming year and thought this particular animal could ease that pain. Mark receives the male blood and he proceeds to eat two mouse hoppers that night for him. He says he was a little thin but feisty. We both were happy that maybe for whatever reason he would turn around. Mark continues to promise me other animals as replacements. Almost two months later and no replacements I find out a few days before July that the Blood male never fed again for Mark and died. Mark continues to make promises in the form of compensatory animals, all via the phone. As I tried to press him (I was out $6,500.00 at this point) for some of these animals Mark refuses all contact. No response to calls, emails, nothing. He now has a million reasons why this is my fault. If he thought it was my fault why would he make all those promises for four months and take the animal back? So in the end after 4 months of being told “not to worry”, “I will make it right”, I am out everything and can’t even get a courtesy or professional response. Just wanted to let you know how Mark might react when things don’t go well. I am pursuing legal advice, but in the meantime any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I would still love for Mark to just stand by his word and send me some compensatory animals as he had promised for the four months prior, and we would both be able to just put this behind us. Thanks, John Martino

I just contacted Mark to let him know about this thread.

I do have a couple questions: How long did you have this Blood Boa in your possession? And did you ever take it to a vet to have it examined?

Mark, as a past customer of yours, I would highly suggest you get on here and explain yourself. If you take a no-response stance, you can count me as a past but not future customer. I think highly of John and have done thousands of dollars in sales with him as I have sales with you. This needs to be settled.

Bob

There is a 2 day reptile show going on now in KC and they have a table there so he probably wont reply till monday.

Sorry to hear about your situation John. For the amount of money you're talking about I'd be on a plane to KC by now (assuming he has a table there). That way you could walk up to him and pick out $6,500+ worth of animals to your liking.
Let's hope the focus on him here wakes him up to take care of everything. I'm with you Griz. Do business with Mark Miller? No thanks.

This is not the first time that Mark has behaved less than admirably. See http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69024. In that thread, in the end, the two parties deserved each other as both were dishonest and disreputable. But the fact is that Mark misrepresented the situation and was (if I recall correctly) extremely slow to refund a sizable deposit on an order in which he, as the seller, had changed terms and then canceled.

Bob, I may have worded my previous post badly. I emailed Mark, and left a voice mail for him, but did not actually speak to him. I should probably have said that I tried to contact him, rather than I did.

Sorry for any misunderstanding.

i live not to far from mark miller I've chatted with him several times about buying from him but his attitude is a little poor when it comes to sales and customer service and thats why i have never gotten anything from him and wont sell anything i have that he wants ...... first impresions are everything to me its the little people/beginners that make a name for you i know I've been a no body novice hobbie breeder and know my names out there and the quality of animals i produce/sell and I'm on this site in the good guy boi and have tons of references and happy customers across the U.S.A ... a good, positive, and HONEST ATTITUDE are key to great customer service
thats my 2 cents worth lol

How about using your real name to post here, "Joe Schmoe from Kokomoe [sic]"? Those are the rules of the BOI.

I agree Jim. If he wants to remain anonymous, then his post needs to be deleted.

the blood male in question was a large 4ft, 18 month old male blood in great health when i shipped it to john. Here are pictures of it just before shipping.

DSC_0041.JPG

as you can see in the pics, he is of good size weight and in the second pic he had just swallowed a nice medium rat.

I sent john that male blood around the 18th of december. On the 9th of January i got an email from john about some of the pics i posted of his snakes he had sent me, one being a sunglow and the other a coral albino, he commented on how nice the pics were and asked me what type of camera i used and i responded with that info. During that time, he never mentioned any issues what so ever regarding the blood male. This leads me to believe that he was happy with the animal. He actually never contacted me to say there was any problems, I had called him to ask about the DOB on the Sunglow male several months later and at that time he mentioned when he first got it(the blood male) it ate once and then regurged its second meal, and he didnt feel it was a big deal and didnt contact me about it and went on to breed it he said. When he said that i told him, if you had a problem with the animal, you should have contacted me much sooner and that i would have no reponsibility for any issues not brought forth immediately upon having them. In other words i told him I would love to make him a happy customer and do what i could to keep him happy but the fact that he ignored my terms of sale about this kind of specific situations that i couldnt do much other than assist him to save the animals life since he stated after the breeding trial he could not get the animal to feed.

Now lets review this a little and kind of make a timeline of facts.
I sent him his animal on the 18th of December 2006.
I spoke to him via email on January 9th 2007 and at that time he didnt mention anything about any problems.
I then did not have any contact with him until march or april (i am looking up this info on my phone records and will get the exact date asap) which was when i called him for the DOB.
During the time john had the animal, he says it ate and regurged. He also states he went ahead and tried breeding the animal regardless of the stated regurge. Anyone that is willing to put an animal in a breeding program right after a regurge is not looking out for the well being of the animal at all and is taking full responsiblity for what ever becomes of the animal.

Now after speaking to john on the phone several times in april I told him if he wanted me to try and get the animal feeding I would certainly try my best since he had contacted me saying he had tried every method he could to get the animal back on feed after breeding with no luck. Me being the kind hearted individual I am and simply trying to keep a customer happy and look out for the well being of the animal, i told him he could ship the animal back to me in order for me to assist in getting the animal turned around as john was pretty sure it was hopeless at that point, he had tried several things like Tylan and Flagyl and had no luck. I also believe john had fecal exams done on the animal and the results came back negative, no parasites or anything abnormal.

The day i got the blood boa from John, it was in horrible shape and resembled a tree boa more than anything else it was extrememly thin and was very lethargic only moving around to hiss and strike. That day it ate 2 fuzzy hopper mice and then never ate another meal after that. when i tried to feed it it would just strike and then leave the food alone. After about 3 weeks of unuccessful attempts at getting him to eat, I tried forcing a small mouse in order to get something in its belly and it regurged that meal the next day and then two days later it passed away.

The only things i am guilty of here is trying to help out a customer with an animal he made poor choices with. John should have contacted me immediately when the first sign of any problems showed up and he did not. Then if the snake really regurged, he should have been more interested in makeing sure it was feeding again before placing it in a breeding program where it definately wont feed if something is wrong with it. Then waiting for 4 months before saying hey i have a problem is just way out of control, I ask you breeders out there, would you offer a refund to someone that bought a snake and was perfectly happy to your knowledge until 4 months later after trying to breed the snake and then wants a refund?

And arent you the guy that somone posted pic of your place online on the bob clark forum or something and you had boas laying in piles with 7-8 even maybe more boas all piled up in one big breeder cage full of sheds and uncleaned feces and mites? And what did the deptartment of animal health say to you when they visited you Chris?

Mark, did you offer John another animal (if he sent some more of his in partial trade), as he said above?

Mark, First off all. Lets stop lying and speak some facts. You NEVER said it was too late as far as your TOS was concerned and that I was out of luck. The FIRST meal was regurged, the SECOND meal was KEPT DOWN. Then he was introduced to my breeding program. From the VERY FIRST call where you were made aware of his condition you promised to make it right! Also, why on God's green earth would I send an animal back to the seller? For you to help me? Come on!! You PROMISED to make it right in the form of compensation! I would never send an animal back for you to just get it healthy for me. He was in such horrible shape that he was able strike at you and feed on two meals that night. Yes, he was thin, you knew he was thin, he hadnt eaten in months! You told me he died at the end of June, only after I had to pry it out of you. I actually found out from a third party. At that point you were ignoring my calls already and didnt even have the decency to tell me the snake I invested $6,500.00 was dead! That means he lived in your care for another two months! Mark, what happened to the Bloody Salmon female you were sending here along with a couple of sunglows(or other similiar valued animals) as compensation, or the female Salmon Jungle, or the Hypo Arabesques poss het Albinos? I am not making this up. All were supposed to be sent as possible forms of various compensation. Are you denying those were ever offered? Most were offered up to and on the call where I was told he was dead. Just before he died it was already extremely difficult to reach you, but after his death happened you ceased all contact whatsoever. I never wanted/asked for a refund. I would never even be here if you hadn't offered compenasation. YOU OFFERED compensation and that is why YOU TOOK THE ANIMAL BACK!!!!! Know why don't you be a man of your word and "make it right" as you have promised COUNTLESS times before. John Martino

When john and i were talkiong about our upcoming breeding season i mentioned i still had a bloody salmon female that would be ready to breed this fall, John showed great interest in getting this animal, I told him if he wanted to work out a trade for some of his sunglows I might be willing to make him a good deal on the female blood if we could agree on a decent price on the sunglows and i would give him a discount on the female bloody salmon so he didnt have to eat such a huge loss on the blood male. Not because i felt It was my fault the animal was not doing well, but simply to offer good service to a previously good customer.

What exactly is in writing? TOS or otherwise?

This is a link to the page on my site containing the TOS.
http://locolizards.com/contact.htm

and this is what they state
All Deposits are Non-Refundable.

It is the buyers responsibility to be available for signature confirmation upon arrival of all animals. If there is no one available for signature then the live arrival guarantee is void. All animals have a live arrival guarantee, unless other wise noted. If there are any issues with your animal upon arrival, you must notify me within 24 hours of arrival. All animals will come with a 2 week healthy feeding guarantee. If you receive an animal and have feeding or health issues, you must notify me within 2 weeks of arrival in order to qualify for this guarantee. In the case you have issues with your animal, and you have met the terms of the feeding healthy guarantee, then you will be given a credit towards a replacement animal of your choice.
