    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

opinions wanted - who has the best morph info

I've been looking around at different well-known sites to bring my knowledge of different morphs back to where it was a few years ago (yes, I've got a lot of catching up to do and a lot of info to absorb into my head.) Now, what I'm looking for is opinions (and URLs) for what everyone considers...

    Red-eyed Tree Frog Problem

My father has a student that is having problems with her RETF. I'm extremely new to keeping frogs and haven't seen this problem myself so don't know anything based upon the description I received. It seems that the frog has devoloped little white spots on it's back that turn black. It also...

    Genetic crossing question

I've been away from leps for a while now and so the huge strides taken in the genetics side has me stumped, just a bit. While I'm working at picking up a lot of iniformation I'm not getting all of the time I need to research as much as I'd like since I'm also catching up on ball pythons...

    Crix from Lynn's Bearded Dragons

If you're even in the D/FW area, or even remotely close, it would be well worth your time to pick up some crickets from Lynn. We've ordered crickets from a variety of places and these are by far the healthiest we've ever gotten. They traveled the 4+ hours home, didn't lose any and can hardly...

    Claude Davis - Most Excellent

I've had 2 dealings with Claude recently and can only say that he's great to deal with. His schedule may keep him from responding immediately but his animals are great. Though he is a wholesaler who deals in a lot of imported animals along with CB, he doesn't send junk. Everything came in...

    looking for CH Ball importers

If you import, or know who is going to, this year, I'm looking to start with a sealed (not picked through) crate of imported babies (there are 500 or so if I remember correctly.) Will probably wind up ordering 2 or 3 total. Need contact info and pricing if possible. Need first crate...

    CH 2007 ball importers?

I'm looking for places where I can get an unopened crate of baby balls as they come in this year. For those who might be importing, I fully expect to sell the first crate in the first week and order another almost immediately. Due to long work hours, I don't get to check here as often as I'd...

    Exotics Express - Mixed Review

Well, mixed review is truly the best statement I can make here for the following reasons: 1. 12-10-06 Answered an ad on KS for '06 male balls that were advertised as eating (I didn't care live or thawed as no big deal to change them over if needed.) Were posted at $25 ea. or 5/$15 ea. Since...

    Janie Manaski - most excellent

I'm pleased to report that we just got a beautiful young BP from Janie and are very pleased with it. Good contact along the way and no problems what-so-ever. Would be confident to purchase from her in the future. Thanks, Janie. David Jobes

    PayPal add-on fee right here!!!

I took the following ad right off of the classifieds only a moment ago. You'd think that with all the posts in recent months about how wrong this is...in so many different ways...that folks who frequent this site would refuse to suggest that the buyer add an extra 3% or so to cover their end...

    Tammy Aldrich - Great Buyer

Tammy contacted me and I put her in touch with the guy in Florida that I'm helping to get out of bearded dragons due to his new job. She was interested in a female and made arrangements to go look at them in person. Alex wrote me the next day and told me that she not only purchased 1 female...

    Web developers - need advice

I'm looking for advice on how to go about setting up a live hatching cam now so that it's up and running later on. I want to do this direct from our website, so I know that some encoding and stuff will have to be available. Think I've got everything set up now so that our web cam is running...

    Bad business practices on Reptibid!

I'm a bit cheezed about some of the things I've been seeing on Reptibid. Who is Double D on the KS forums?

While looking at another thread this morning, I happened to see that somebody using the KS forums uses the ID of Double D. Since we've never had a KS account and, at this time, don't think we'll ever get one (addressed in other threads) it obviously isn't me. So, my question is...who is this...

As I told Ken and mentioned in the previous post, I am posting a much happier not today.  Our crickets arrived yesterday, overnighted even, and all are fine.  Ken said that he would take care of the problem and he did so way beyond what was needed.  He's had a small business setback with...

    Wormman.com

Maybe it's just me, but I've never had a cricket order be such a hassle in the past.  First, we've ordered off and on over the years online (usually depends on how easily we can get crickets nearby and seasonal needs.)  We've never had the hassles we've experienced with this one company.  They...
