I am a graduate student in the Neuroscience Program at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York. A team of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students are conducting a research study to analyze the behaviors of naked mole rats (heterocephalus glaber). One of a number of areas of study within this research project will be defensive behaviors of naked mole rats exposed to the scent of a predator, specifically the rufous-beaked snake (rhamphiophis oxyrhynchus), and the interaction of cortisol levels.
As the crucial variable in this study, scent from a rufous-beaked snake has proven to be inaccessible to us. Can anyone offer information as to how we may be able to access an item that has been exposed to the rufous-beaked snake for utilization in our study?
